The wife doesn't like me having extra parts around... I do keep some, but I don't shoot enough to wear out my parts. If I do, then I buy new stuff, and usually try to get the most up to date, modern stuff. Granted, that may sounds like I have stuff from the 30's sitting around, but I should keep my weapons in running order for a long long time... And it gives me an excuse to just buy a new one as I can't upgrade the old... :)

With the AR, you should always have some spare parts on hand, and the bolt probably should be at the top of the list.

Having just gone through a 5.56 bolt I agree with ofreen. At some point in the future Mr. Murphy will appear and soil your day. Better keep it.......

Having "extra" parts is the start of an excuse to acquire more parts that eventually become the next rifle... That is the primary reason I keep only enough spare parts to fix rifles, but not so many spare parts that I consider building another rifle.

I know what you mean. I can probably assemble at least one or two rifles from "parts". Unfortunately none of my spares include a 6.5 G bolt.:( Plenty 223/5.56mm though.
