Hi Guys,
My barrel showed up today, it is 18" S.S. with the front half flutted. I bought it as a Alexander Barrel. The only marking on the barrel is 6.5 Grendel in a cool looking script.
I went to Alex web page but I couldn't find any products.
Does any of you all have a Alex barrel, if so, how is it marked?? This barrel doesn't even have the twist rate which I would like to know?
I would be greatfull for any help!

Mines a 24" button rifled. Bead blasted. Is your 18" a cut rifled or a button rifled? The twist will be different depending on which barrel you went with.
"This 6 groove barrels feature 416R stainless steel and a 1:8.5 twist. Muzzles are threaded 9/16-24RH and gas port is drilled for a rifle length gas system. .750 at the gas block with M4 style feed ramps."

If the button rifled 18" barrel isn't fluted I have the cut rifling. Montana, do you have your shooting good? If so what bullet powder combo does it like? Here in Kansas it starting to get cold and my back is killing me so I don't know what I will get done, I am sure i will get it built but I am not for sure when I will get enough money to buy a good glass! I might be wrong but I believe that a rifle cannot be any better than the glass that set's on top of it. I am not a guy that can afford a Night Force scope so I will have to do my research and buy the best glass I can? I have been told that the upper end of the Vortex scopes are pretty good, has any one tried one of them?
Thanks to all that posted.

I have to ask this, my barrel is a 18"S.S. has the front half fluted right past the gas port is where the 6.5 Grendel wrote in a nice script, does anyone know if it has the cut rifling?
If no one knows, can someone tell me how to tell the differnce?
I would be great full for any and all help!

You will know if it is cut or button-rifled based on how much you paid for it. With fluting, a SS button-rifled will be in the $300+ range. Cut-rifled pipes are in the $500 range. Non-fluted buttons are in the $250+ range.

I have a Viper PST 6-24 and I really like it. I've heard that the glass is much better than the same scope in 4-16.
