I have an 1:9 AR i shoot 100 to 300 yards with a bushnell elite 3x9x40 using 65 grain sierra gamekings. i was thinking of getting a grendel to shoot out to 600 yards. what kinda scopes in 400 dollar range do you all like for shooting your grendels 600 yards? I doubt my bushnell would have enough MOA adjustment if i put it on a grendel for 600 yards. what barrel twist and bullets shoot good to 600 yards in grendels but also work good on coyote and deer? if you zero at 100 how many MOA adjustment is typical to get to 600 for grendels?

15 MOA is a good starting point that will have you on paper for almost any Grendel load sighted for 100 yards and shot at 600. 120 grain Match Kings or 123 A-Max are good bullets to start with and aren't sensitive to jump length.

600 yd DOPE from my data book.
20" 1:8.75 satern
123 smk - 17.1 MOA
100 nbt - 17.0 MOA
100 amax - 16.5 MOA
I've put down deer and hogs with the 100 nbt's. I plan to try the 100 amax's on hogs next weekend if all goes to plan.

Hey thanks for the replies, I am glad to hear less than 20 moa adjustment would be needed. That could save some money. No need for an 80 or 90 moa scope.

You can always get a mount with some down angle built in. Most manufacturers have then. I have a LaRue LT-158 with 10 MOA of down angle.
That said, get the best glass you can afford.

The 123gr Lapua Scenar, 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and SMK's shot best out of my rig. If you enjoy an AR already, you'll love shooting the Grendel.
I deffinitely recommend the Vortex Viper scopes. I'm not talking the the HS or the PST, those are way out of your stated price range (and mine ... LOL). But, the standard Vortex Viper PA scopes are top notch and you can get them for great price ...............

Yes that looks like a real good deal. I actually looked at the vortex viper pa 6.5 x20x44. Do you have this one? Is 6.5 too much mag for a close 30 yard shot on the low end. Just asking being I will have to use one gun for deer closer in woods and coyotes or paper far away.
