Is AA still selling the 24 inch Barrel? Im doing my build and went to their website to order the barrel and I didnt see it on there. All I saw was the 19 and I think the 16.

Well I searched it and found it off Google. At first I thought maybe the website is jacked up as the online store service they use is kind of crap. BUT When I tried to add it to my cart it told me the item is no longer available for purchase in the store. Not sure what the heck is going on. Will do the same and call AA on Monday Morning and find out whets up. Sure hope they still have them or are out of stock and will have some soon. If I can’t get the 24 inch them I’m going to say screw it and go something else. Ill be damned I get it else where. Everyone I call about them that makes them doesn’t pick up or have a crazy ass lead time. If Satern had good CS I would have done this build a year or two ago. :(

See the general 6.5 forum - AA is overhauling its barrel/upper offerings and will be updating the website in the coming weeks. No worries.

Wouldn't it be nice if prices went down? Ya I know! I dream a lot. Safe bet is they go up.

lol. but it is ok as long it is give us no problem (like not chambering or fail to extract) and wost is waiting when they will have in on stock :)
If you can't get the 24" AA barrel and bolt combo from AA, do consider the AR Stoner (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/111283/ar-stoner-barrel-and-bolt-ar-15-65-grendel-medium-contour-1-in-9-twist-24-stainless-steel) barrel and AA bolt kit from Midway. I did and when it arrived, I was floored at the quality finish inside the barrel. Best off the shelf AR bore I've ever seen. A patch with some Kroil went through it like a sharp knife through cold butter. Came out clean as a whistle too. The contouring work on the outside wasn't as nice, but not a hack job either. I'd say on par with my DPMS 260 Rem barrel. I bead blasted mine anyway as I don't like shiny SS barrels and it looks great. A local club member got the AA barrel and bolt kit and looking at them side by side, I'd swear they were from the same barrel manufacturer. The only difference was the barrel markings. My Stoner just said 6.5 Grendel 1:9. My best 5-shot 100 yard group with it so far is .29 inches and it doesn't build up copper like rougher AR barrels I've bought. I also managed to order mine using a free shipping coupon code and was able to pick up a couple of 10-round magazines to boot for a grand total of $350.00. A fellow I spoke to at Midway said the barrels were an E.R. Shaw production overruns. They make great bores. Not knowing if they still make them now for Midway, YMMV. Given the popularity of the actual 24" AA barrel and bolt kits, I doubt they aren't selling them anymore though.

AA was back up again this morning showing their barrel/bolt packages. I looked at ER Shaw price at Mod1 and found their price the same as AA. If I knew these were good as AA barrels I'd get one just because they are only a couple of miles from where I live and could avoid shipping cost. My gunsmith friend, owner of RCA Guns, goes up there every week and sounds like he knows them well. Just maybe I can get him to ask for one to inspect? When compairing apples to apples Mod1 is close to same price as AA on barrels but other items, gas tubes, gas blocks, ect are lower priced. Quality? RCS uses some amount of parts from there so I will most likley follow. I am going to pull the trigger and purchase a 24" heavy barrel from AA. I have shopped all over and cannot find a barrel I feel good about buying without spending over $500. I talked to Lilja barrels and they would absolutly not do Grendel and are not considering it in the future. It looks to me that most custom barrel people shy away from the Grendel and instead do LBC or some other close profile. Am I wrong about this????????? Grendel is gonna be marginalized if nobody will cut the chamber and use the name. Just sayin..

I agree with Hoot the Stoner barrel at Midway looks, and the decription sounds, just like AA and is priced the same. Could it be they all come from the same place?

One difference between Model 1 and Midway A R Stoner is Stoner uses an AA 6.5 G bolt whereas Model 1 used to use 7.62 X 39 bolt which usually dictates a little different chamber compared to a chamber of a 6.5 barrel\Grendel bolt. I think the 6.5 Grendel bolt is stronger.

I agree with you there VASCAR2 and Model 1 calls their barrel a 6.5 Sporter. I called them and they said it was a Grendel chamber. For some reason my dog just aint huntin this one. I want to buy a barrel but hardly anybody calls theirs a GRENDEL. LBC CCS Sporter ect. I am going to buy from AA to be sure I get the real deal. I am however, going to see if I can find out the truth about Model 1 . I live close by. The gunsmith that I frequent is pals there. I'm going to see if he can borrow one so we can give it a real close inspection so everybody will know the real skinney.

I see a bit of good news, 'looks like AA has the barrel variety back on their page... unless I got an archived one by mistake somehow.
