Just Completed Build with Precision Firearms 6.5 Grendel Upper

934935After much work, research and building I have completed my first 6.5 Grendel. I can not wait to get it to the range. Specs are:

Whelenon. I have not had a chance to take it out yet. I am working on getting it to the range within the next week or two. My friends are already salivating over the Grendel. I think they are more excited that I am. It will be a head turner at the range since its not the typical 223 i see every weekend.

Let us know how it runs. Not to hijack your thread but i have narrowed down my list to one of those neptune uppers or build my own with the black hole barrel, not sure which way to yet. Probably can't go wrong either way, just debating. Does that Neptune have the Lilja barrel?

Very nice. Ordered a Precision Firearms upper a few weeks ago and waiting for it to be done. Ordered the Neptune V w/ Lilja barrel upgrade. Looking forward to hearing how your range day goes and your overall satisfaction of the upper. Hope all goes well!!

The barrel and bolt are both Les Baer Custom.

Looks like fun! I am looking forward to getting my upper from Precision Firearms next week. Getting a 20" Lilja barrel chambered in 6.5 grendel w/ composite handgaurds from Lancer. Hope to hear good news from you on yours..

Initial Range Report: Went to the range to begin the break in process today. So far the rifle is meeting my expectations! I have a couple of good groups right now. Once I finish the break in process, I will submit an update. So far, I like what I see.

Les Baer barrels are already broken in. Just shoot it and show us the results, with the copper left in the bore. Copper is your friend!

I have not been to the range lately due to house repairs. I should return soon and will report results. My question is: Do Les Baer barrels need to be broken in? Precision Firearms provided me with break-in instructions which I have been following. My thinking is that after spending some serious $$$$$ to get here, why take a chance now. Any barrel breaking theories?

They are exactly that, "theories" As many of the members here, I don't follow any break-in procedures for firearm barrels, and I never will. Just go shoot it and have fun. clean it after 200 or 300 rounds. The only thing I clean religiously is the BCG.
