Get one custom made, to your specs... Mark Gordon at Short Action Customs did mine, and it was keeping up with the bolt guns last 600 yard shoot...

Best for what? Long range, hunting, 3 gun?

You've got to be more specific.

Mostly for deer, hogs & varmints, with occasional casual target shooting.

CN390:

How much money are you willing to spend? Give a figure stated in numbers and I am sure we can provide some excellent advice to you about uppers that will be within your price range.

Either Bob Reynolds at Templar Consulting LLC.

Alexander Arms

I really don't want to, I don't have time

There is a complete rifle for sale that is already about the best you can buy it is being sold by Marc Rush, it is in the for sale section.

It is and excellent build and you cant go wrong for the price.

The only thing it does not have is a monolithic upper.

He was asking just $2500 for a rifle that would sell for $3k

It is unfired and it also has a Satern bbl.

I helped him select all the parts and also gave technical support to him and an experienced gunsmith in the building of it.

That is sort of like asking "Who makes the best truck, (or sedan, jeep, bus, or whatever)." Far more specificity would really help because there are so many really good builders out there.

Sadly, one of the best makers was put out of business by the ATF, Sabre Defense. They made mine.

He, he. OK -- so you do not want the very best.

Here is a solution for you.

I was shooting next to LRS Ranger at the last 600 yard shoot, and until I looked over, I thought he was using his bolt gun. His rifle was pounding out 10 and X-ring hits. When I was seeing the target marker constantly placed on the 10 or X, I looked to see what he was shooting. Glad his rifle shoots that well.

what LR said...it ain't hard and you don't have to go to extremes. That model if memory serves is free floated and well proven....if you decide you want a shorter barrel as many do have it cut...no big deal. That model kicks ass...and has for a long time. No need to make it complicated
