View Thread : New Trigger

For the AR-based rifle shooter there's a new guy on the block, trigger-wise.

Jewell's have always been held in high esteem, Kreiger-Milazzo's are famous but pricey (IF you can FIND one!), John Holliger does awesome tune-ups with Rock River's.

I've been running my Grendel on a Jewell-fittted Colt lower since last August, never excited by the trigger. Heard about Bill G's design last December, got my name on his waiting list, received my match model a few days ago. installed into a Rock River lower, 1st stage set for 1-1/2 lbs, 2nd easy to adjust for 1/4 lb, "glass-rod" break!

Supposed to have the fastest lock time ever for an AR trigger group.

First time in competition this past Saturday, 4-gun/600, 15-30+ mph wind conditions, 175-2 & 189-4.

I had seen these triggers on Creedmoor's web site. How are they adjusted? Do they have set screws or do you bend springs? Is the first and second stage fully adjustable? Can you get the second stage set as low as it indicates. My Jewell's doesn't function well if the second stage is set too light, I usually have to have at least 1 1/2 lbs on them. Does the trigger use the standard pins to hold it in place? The reason I ask is a guy was shooting the Leg match at New Holland the other week and had one of the drop in triggers but it used external clips to hold it in place. From what I heard they disqualified him for his trigger even though it weighed correctley.

First stage adjusts with pliers: you bend the spring (supplied) according to your preference. Second stage adjusts via set-screw, easy even while installed. Not infinite adjustment, but close. I have my 2nd stage set to break at about 1/4 pound (according to my cheap spring-type RCBS gauge) with the 1st about 1-1/2.

Standard pins get used (supplied) and there's an internal circlip for the trigger pin that keeps it captive once installed. Nothing external at all.

Being DQ'd for external clips seems a bit extreme - I'd have to check the exact wording though I believe there's some room for debate between "external modifications" and "profile." Under the former the clips'd be out, under the latter I'd say it's allowed.
