View Thread : Do not use Tools on a WCI Brake

warped
Hey!!!

This is the third instance I am aware of that someone has used Pliers or in worst case, a Pipe Wrench to install a WCI Brake. (WTF over?)

If your hands are tired, rest, if you have arthritis, be very careful and just use a smooth screwdriver shank or rod and allow that to assist you by inserting it cross ways into the holes.

Do not use any amount of force, if you do this you might just turn your bbl and bbl nut.

The WCI Brake is not to be used as a die either!!!

Please please please clean the threads on your muzzle before you install the WCI Brake, there should be little or none coating on those threads.

Use oil, not grease when you install it.

Thanks

You mean you aren't supposed to use vise-grips when you put on and take off muzzle brakes and flash hiders? ;) The Browning Abolt with BOSS brake comes with a hardened steel rod to slide through the brake holes so you can take it off or adjust it. Common sense...

I guess that means welding a 7/8" nut on the end and using a 3/4" impact is out of the question.

SNAFU
I wrapped it very good,,put the WCI in the vice.
put the 24" pipe wrench in the mag well..... :D

I just use my teeth. Clamp right down on the holes and give her a twist. The dentist doesn't tend to be too thrilled with me, but it works... ;)

You should then change your name to Gum Wood instead of Curly Maple.
