"New Army M-18 Elite Rifle (Approved by ACLU Lawyers)

All these scopes, and video cameras, allow everyone from CNN to the White House to approve all targets before the soldier can pull the trigger. The UN's Koffee Annan says all shots must be approved by a unamious vote of the 15-member Security Council, perhaps soon to include Hugo Chavez."

Actually... under the current acquisitions process, the Army really was buying a new foregrip for the old M4 but could only do so if they justified the purchase by showing an unsatisfied need, which appeared as the advanced optics doubler-reducer (pictured after the main scope). Unfortunately, the doubler-reducer was tied to several other projects, one of which involved having another optical device packaged with an even older version of the current M4 (which incidentally comes complete with optics, a bipod, and a better foregrip than the one the Army was actually trying to acquire (not shown due to the grip generally being discarded upon receipt of the "weapon system" by soldiers). This is why the Army and Congress refuse to look at improved versions of the M4 or different weapons entirely, and how one can turn a $600.00 rifle into a $3200.00 pig with a better grip. Boy do they kick @ss at buying stuff...
