My version tries to cover a lot of bases. Grendel already has spectacular range and power delivery. However most of the rifles chambered for it are on the large side so taking that into account I think it would solve a lot of issues if someone like Steyr or FN would chamber their bullpup rifles for grendel. Not only would you save on size, but you would also be able to put a larger barrel(20"+) in without it being very bulky.

My mistake. Looks like I'm not the only one to think that combination would be really spectacular.

no youre not i agree with you that would be a great solution for a great all around assault rifle.but ,especially for the american market, a gas piston ar-based platform would be better(i say gas piston because its much more reliable than the standard gas system). with a 16" barrel the 500 yd shooting requirement that the marines have(it also happens to be the average engagement distance for U.S. snipers) would be easy to reach and still have plenty of knockdown to spare for longer ranges.with some LaRue QD scope rings, aimpoint comp, and a leupold 3.5-10, there would be very few situations our soldiers couldnt take care of

Thanks for the welcome. I am surprised anyone actually responded to this post at all due to the huge post above it.Chris, I am starting to become a big fan of the gas piston systems even though they are nothing new, they are being used in smarter ways and on different platforms with amazing results. I am not a real big shooter but 5.56 always seemed too overhyped for what you actually get out of the deal when shooting. Whole lot of pop and not a lot of hit. Then again I am just a novice shooter who does a whole lotta trap and plink shooting.

I was thinking of something similar to the L85A1 w/ a 24 or 26 inch barrel.
