Mad Max
I think the Grandel cartridge makes a great mid range "tactical" rifle for engagements out to 800 to 1000 yards plus you can shed a lot of weight by using ultra light parts and standard weight barrel of 20-24" but still maintain good enough accuracy to get to 1000 with little trouble and have low recoil for fast follow up shots. Yet it wouldn't be so heavy to weigh you down. As far as terminal ballistics it may lack real punch at 1000 but I believe it would get the job done. I built this concept a couple months ago so have a look. It uses an Ace skeleton stock, YHM ultra light quad rails, and a 24" standard weight barrel. The billet receiver does add some weight back on but it's worth it.
