      Sloan:

Can't remember the barrel length or load of TAC. If you are using a 20" or so bbl, then you are right up there in terms of speed for that bullet. Particularly with TAC.

Probably the best person to answer your question is you.

17 fps SD doesn't say anything about pressures or safety, only SD. Folks have different standards for load acceptance when looking at SD. I look at consistent accuracy first and then SD. For me, I view an SD of 12 fps or less to be my standard but if the load shoots consistently accurately, I tend to ignore the SD.

Go to the 6.5 Grendel (http://ammoguide.com/?catid=456) at Ammoguide.com and you will find loads for Tac and 123 gr. bullets.

The max load for Tac at this weight happens to be 28.2 grains with Lapua and Sierra MatchKing bullets and an OAL of 2.26". The AMAX bullet is a tad shorter also, so the pressures are probably OK as long as you keep the OAL at 2.26".

There's another discussion of Tac and the Amax at http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showt...er-load/page10 (Post #95)
