This is a Cavarms lower, rifle length handguards, .223wylde chamber. 14.5" bbl with pinned WCI brake, mid length gas system, H2 buffer, still needs a LPK before my friend gets the rifle.

He needs it, too many problems occurring where he lives.

The Tucson area has become somewhat worse, not as bad as Phx but also closer to the border and its problems.

Randall you had better get him a metal-detector - if he lays that suck down it will be hard to find! I like it, nice work.

Warped,

I think I remember you saying something about using the WCI Brake to retain the handguard cap, which is what it looks like you did in the pic.

The only time I lay my weapon down is when I stow it on my side or back as it hangs from my VTAC sling...It's always there when I need it.

Yep, the WCI and a 6061 sleeve.

I guess it did not catch anyone's attention, that or they remembered.

Inland receiver, carbine handguard, 7.62x33 chamber. 18" barrel (don't need no stinkin' muzzle brake ;)).

The new acquisition, I assume? Very nice little carbine!

I keep thinking I need one, then my wife says, "for what?" and I shrug and say "I dunno" and she says, "When you find a reason, lets talk" and I don't buy one!

LOL :)

Good thing you don't, otherwise I might have to remove that front sight and move it back some!

Well, to be honest, that's a photo I found on the internet. Mine is configured exactly like that, however.

Sadly, I don't have it in my hot little hands, yet. It seems that since I last bought a rifle (just before the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban), this state implemented a waiting period for long guns.

I dunno what "need" has to do with a hobby, but if she requires a reason, tell her it's for "stress relief." ;)

I've never found another rifle that I enjoyed shooting as much as an M1 carbine. It's as light as a .22, but has enough kick and makes enough noise to be emotionally satisfying, while still being mild enough to shoot beaucoup rounds without being fatiguing. And if necessary, you can shoot it sans ear plugs, without feeling as if spikes are being driven into your eardrums, in contrast to more powerful rifles.

Ah...but I went beyond "hobby" to obsession long ago in her eyes, at least!

Truthfully, I look at all weapons as tools, and having two tools that do the same job equally well is fairly useless and a waste of resources. Each of my rifles fills a niche I identify and then try to correctly fill. Thus, I haven't yet identified a niche not already filled by something I have, that the .30 Carbine would fill.

I'm far too pragmatic to collect rifles like a lot of my friends do. If I don't shoot it regularly and with a purpose, I simply don't buy it, or I sell it.

Bill that is the reason I reduced the number of AR15's I had from seven to just four, besides, it made me have to haul more to the range and also clean them.

I still have other types but it can become a chore to drag them all to the range so that others can also enjoy them.

I will admit that a few of the ones that shoot my rifles actually help clean them, those that don't offer may not get another chance to shoot.

That is one of the reasons I built my nephews and a couple of friends rifles, I frequently wind up with extra parts laying around.

Yup, that sort of thing can happen. :D

Me, I look at guns as toys, something to be used for pleasure. Tools are something needed for work.

I'm similar. I think the most guns I ever owned at one time was six, or maybe seven. Most usually, it was only three: one each of rifle, shotgun and pistol. When I came across something new that I just had to buy, I generally sold the old one.

I greatly enjoy shooting, but the weapons used to shoot are tools to me, not toys, but I can understand the interaction. My father law calls the many thousands of dollars of wood working tools he has accumulated "his toys", so there certainly is overlap.

I guess I try to make my avocation more and more my occupation. LOL!! :) My dream job would be to own a high end gun store! I don't want to be a gunsmith, because that requires me to work and not discuss!

BUT....I'm definitely not a collector, I'm a shooter!

I was always taught and (try to teach my son) that 1 of something that is quality is better than several of something that are not quite what you want or need. Just building a rifle is one thing, but by the time you add a quality mount and quality glass you have just doubled or tripled the price of the rifle. A good rifle with a cheap scope is not a quality tool. I try to spend the money once and get what I want or I am not happy until I do and I get depressed about wasting money on something I was not totally happy with.

If I had an unlimited amount of money this would be less of a problem and I might learn to "collect" guns rather than just enjoy and shoot the ones I have :)

I like it it would be a great Arizona rifle. I really like the lop on those cav 15 stocks.
