Hog slayin' with suppressed 12.5" Grendel

I was able to hit a ranch in central Texas this weekend with some friends. Great times. We put 10 hogs down total. I got these 6 in about 30 minutes. 2 at one tank, 4 at another. All of them taken at close range while chasing them on foot through the cedars. 6 for 6 shot to kill ratio. The suppressor really enables you to hear the WHAP of the bullet impact. Hell of a time

Had some peach barbeque pulled pork last night as a reward for my efforts. Good stuff.

Great shooting! I hope to have similar success when my supressor arrives.

Been a fan of the Grendel from the very beginning and haven't second guessed that choice one time.

Awesome. What load are you using?

Now that you've blooded the 12.5", do you see ever using a longer barrel for hog hunting likely for you?

This barrel has lots of blood on it already. Last winter I took 2 doe @ 200 & 275 yds, several hogs and lots of vermin with it. At this point I don't see much need for a longer barrel inside of 300 yds for the type of hunting I typically do. If I have an opportunity for some longer range shots or bigger game I'll probably go with the 20". Otherwise, the size, weight and balance of the 12.5" is perfect for me. I couldn't be happier with it.

For these hogs I was just using some blaster loads I put together using fireformed AK brass and 120 grain sierra soft points I picked up off ARFCOM EE. Even with slightly reduced velocity due to the FF cases those pills created VERY effective wound channels.

The winter does I took were downed with 123 SSTs, Hornady brass and 28 grains of 8208.

Awesome work TX. I need to get a new legal suppressor here in MN.,, then dial you up ?

Awesome performance with the 120--123 pills.

Would you try a few -different wts.? Performance gains- upon the indifferences of a few?

Of a few pills that I tweak? Thanks.

Lots of hogs in Texas. Good to see you are doing your fair share to keep them from taking over. Good shooting.

Sure, I'll give them a try. I have been intrigued by what you have been playing with. I don't know when my next trip will be but it could be in Aug sometime.
