    Ball Powders

Has anyone tried any of the Winchester ball powders (760 or 748) in their Grendel? I've got some & was wondering. Thanks for ant input.

When the Grendel was new, 748, 2520, TAC, and BLC-2 were the primary powders we used for handloading the Grendel. 760 would be way too slow.

I'm getting one of my most accurate loads with 748.

Thanks so much. I bought a bunch of 748 a couple years ago - "Buy whatecer's available & see..." & thought it might be good to use.

Ditto. My most accurate load is 31.7gr. of W748 behind a Nosler 120gr. BT seated at 2.267 COAL. Start low and all that stuff...

You can seach through the various load stickies on the forum or use the on line reloading data information provided by the various bullet and powder manufacturers. I don't think you can fit enough 748 into a Grendel case to make a dangerous load unless you really compress the charge. 30 - 31 grains of 768 and almost any 6.5 bullet about maxes the case capacity. Velocities will not be as high as some of the other powders suitable for the Grendel.

Start with the data provided by Alexander and you will be fine.

I had good luck with 768 except it was VERY dirty.
