    "Patterned," Headshot Boar

I have a running joke with some buddies about patterning hogs. They are of the belief that if patterned, the hogs will always be true to the pattern, but are then surprised when they aren't. So I have suggested that they are patterning their hogs for too long and the hogs patterns are getting disrupted by unknown influences. In the video, I "patterned" this hog after 1 night and verified the pattern on the second night. In reality, he came once and I thought he might be back. I got lucky.

I had the one game cam image used for the opening and thought it was a smaller hog. He turned out to be just over 200 lbs. While scanning for him, saw a coon and decided to get some B roll video, check focus, etc. By the time I got the rifle up and the scope and recorder going, the coon had turned into the hog!

The shot entered just under the right eye and exited under the left. No brain case involvement, but the hydrostatic pressure apparently overloaded blood vessels in the brain and he bled from his right ear. Given that the shot basically went through the bone and nasal passages under the eyes (non-vital), it would appear that the boar stroked-out.

He got gutted and was picked up by a neighbor to take to the processor. He is going to a local family who should be having sausage, hams, and backstraps next week.
Kill a hog. Save the planet.

Something hot blew away up and left on impact. It appears to be 2-4" in diameter. Any idea what that was?

      Nice job again!
