J&T Distributing / DoubleStar bull vs heavy barrel

Hi. I ordered a 20" SS bull barrel from J&T. They accidentally sent me a 20" heavy barrel. One phone call later and they very courteously offered to send me the bull barrel along with a return label for the heavy barrel.

Now I have both in my possession and really not sure which one to return! I wanted to the bull barrel, and from what I can tell (visual inspection), its quite nice. As excepted though, its also a bit heavy. This will be a paper-shooter gun, though who knows if someday I decide to hunt with it?

Don't think I'd go wrong either way, but wanted to solicit opinions. Which would you keep and why? Including some pics for reference...

Keep them both and pay them for the other.

i have a 20" H bar and i just thought it was heavy-- lol

just depends on what you want to do-- a BB is probably better off the bench/bags if you tote it hunting you'll find the Hbar plenty heavy-- i have been thinking of getting a hbar and having it turned to a usgi a-2 ish profile for hunting /general carrying on the farm. --

there is a profile for whatever you want-- i find myself toting the m4 style saber more and more when i want light weight.

It comes down to what kind of shooting you are planning and preference.

I"d stick with the stainless as:
Its mainly for the bench, so weight is a plus
Does the heavy barrel have a chromed bore? Chromed bore may be mil-spec, but I am happier without it (seem to be clean easier after break in, and be more likely to be highly accurate)
Doesn't need a brake or thread protector
        Looks better

Or as recommended above, get both!
Very likely either will perform well for you. Good luck

for me since i mainly shoot paper i would go with the bull barrel. as a matter of fact i just ordered an bull barrel for my 6.5cm AR. weight isn't a problem for me as long as i can get it to the table! LOL

Thanks all for the feedback. @buster, I wish I could keep two Grendel barrels but I'm trying to assemble this firearm under a, "budget." Budget in quotes because the cost of these AR builds seem to spiral out of control.

The heavy barrel has been returned to J&T. Moving forward with the bull barrel.

Keep in mind that you will want a thicker billet upper receiver for either of those barrels.

I think you made a good choice for a range target gun.

My first Grendel was the J&T 20" SS Bull barrel. A friend has it now, but it was the most accurate rifle I've owned. If I did my part it was routine to have 1/2 MOA groups at 100-200 yards with Hornady Factory AMAX. And that was with cheap glass and a standard trigger. It now has better glass on it.
