Grendel Bullet Seating Press Force Measured - Video Link

I made a bullet seating press force video, using a very accurate strain gauge with +/- 2lb accuracy.

Interesting results with just .003" neck interference and 7 times fired brass.

Did you take the seating stem out to drop the bullet through for the purposes of the video or do you d it like that as a matter of habit??

It is recommended that you sit the bullet on the case and drop the seating die down over it as repeated removal and replacement of the seating stem is a possible cause of wear in the stem and - or the die neck, especially when it is done thousands of times. I see by the base plate on your arbor press that it may not have had a lot of use as mine has a visible mark where the die has been slid under the press ram countess times over the years as I load for a few cartridges on it.

Great information on the vid though. Thanks for posting.

Well, it is just general laziness more than anything. I am aware that they (Wilson) recommend seating the bullet on the neck and then placing the die body over that.

You are right about the press, as it is fairly new, only 400-500 loads on it so far. I like the little Sinclair press very much. It takes less physical effort that a traditional RCBS single stage press does, and provides great feel for seating bullets.
