Unsure what you are asking? Lapua brass is the gold standard, with brass from Nosler and Hornady slightly less desirable.

I guess I'm asking if lapua is worth the extra cost considering it's only for a gas gun. I've heard there really isn't much difference, but Im looking for more opinions on the subject.

I have 20+ reloads on some of my Lapua brass. I have never annealed or had to trim Grendel brass. I do get about 3-5 split necks per 100 pieces each time I reload after the 10th or 11th reload. I consider that acceptable loss. If I annealed, I might not have split any, but I can't be sure of that.

I have a few pieces of Hornady brass that I am over 10 reloads on but I have had most Hornady brass lose the primer pocket between 5-10 reloads. Since my Hornady brass is all from Factory ammo, I have no problems with that reload ration.

I'm not sure what being a gas gun has to do with anything, but I have over 10,000 rounds of Grendel ammo down the tube in gas rifles. My gas guns shoot 1/4 MOA groups regularly, and while I do have one bolt gun that shoots a little better than that, I feel like the Lapua brass is worth the money, but I don't give my Hornady brass away anymore, as I have found it is a valuable addition.

        Does that help?

+1 on lapua. Lapua is the best brass in any gun. In the grendel im on my 10 reload and looks great.
I also shoot factory Hornady rounds so i got some hornaday brass and have to agree with the above comment that the primer pockets are loose after 5 reloads.
Also have used ppu once fired 7.62x39 brass and necked them down and running 7 reloads on them
Overall the grendel are easy on brass compared to other calibers

Lapua and Hornady. Yes the Lapua is worth the cost.

Awesome info. Not sure if that helps Winny, but I know that has answered my questions regarding which/what brass.

I was wondering the same thing but budget be damned I just started with Lapua.

For Grendel, I use Lapua, AA and Hornady (from factory). Older AA brass is sourced from Lapua, whereas their newer stuff is reported to be from Hornady. If it's good enough for Bill A, I'd say it should be for you.

I started with the Hornady brass while waiting for my AA/Lapua stuff to arrive, and I've gotten 8+ loads, so far, with only one split neck. I've also just trimmed these, as they were reaching COL's of 1.540". My AA / Lapua brass still awaits its turn in the active rotation, as the Hornady is still going strong. The Lapua has been fire formed only, but my experience with it in .308 says it is top drawer stuff.

For my 5.56 AR's, I reload strictly LC. I've gotten as many as 11 loads on the stuff, before case neck splits and loose pockets became commonplace - usually about 3-5 per 100. I have about 4000 cases prepped for reloading, so I retire the 5.56 stuff after no more than a dozen reloads.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
