Prairie Dogs with the 5.56....Grendel Will Be Next

Finally got in contact with some landowners the other day that have a ton of prairie dogs in their fields. Had an absolute blast, knocked over 60 down in a couple of hours shooting on my own. I was just in the area visiting family and only took the 5.56, so the Grendel will have to wait until my next trip in a month. These were with the 40gr V-Max out of my 16" 5.56. Can't wait to see what the Grendel with 95gr V-max will do!

Here's a couple of screenshots from one of the slow-motion videos. That's what I call explosive expansion and massive hydrostatic shock!

And a slow-motion video for those who want to see that sorta stuff:

That was cool as all get out LOL.

If we had Pdogs where I live I think I would build me a 24 inch barreled Pdog slaying grendel upper looks like super fun good time.

I used my 6.5 Grendel in Wyoming two years ago. I used my hand loaded 123 grain Nosler CC in a very remote area. I didn't get a specific distance for my longest hits but they were several hundred yards out. There was no doubt if I connected with the 123 grain CC. My range estimating skills are decent here in the prairies or hills and hollers of the midwest but it was a lot harder at 7200' plateau in Wyoming. It was a good thing my hunting companion brought his 800 yard laser.

Good pictures and video PD, you'll have to take your 6.5 Grendel along next time.

Stupid freaking photobucket. I swear every time I load a video that was shot with my phone the only way it'll let anyone view it is on another phone or tablet, even if I load it from my desktop. It says it's renamed or deleted when I view on my computer, but on my iPad it's still there. One of these days I'm just going to make a YouTube channel and load everything onto there. Either way, for now if you want to see it try on a mobile device haha. Pretty intense slow-motion explosion through the phoneskope

I'm really anxious to see what the Grr will do. I'm debating whether or not I want to work up a load with the 95gr V-max or not, since I've only got one box and they're almost impossible to find locally. However, I've got about 700 rounds of the 100gr Amax that I already have a load worked up for that just might be the ticket. It's grouped MOA out to 600 pretty consistently, so that'll probably be the route I'll end up going. The furthest shots will probably be 500-600 yards, with the vast majority being inside of 200. A couple of guys that I'm taking with are going to be shooting anything from 22-250's with 36gr Varmint Grenades, to 6x47L's shooting 55gr Varmageddons, and even one guy that said he might break out his 338LM for a few LMAO. And of course, I'll probably knock over a few with the 270WSM with 100gr Speer HP's. Needless to say, I should have plenty of footage after that trip

Anyone that's ever in Utah (LRRPF52 *cough cough*) and wants to spend a day making the farmers happy, just give me a heads up and we can work something out. They tend to stick underground through the winter, but the rest of the year they're everywhere. I'm also hoping to get in contact with another rancher next time I'm in the area that could open me up to another 1500+ acres to shoot on.

Absolutely freaking awesome!! Great video and looks like fun. Hard to imagine anything being more explosive than that. I'd like to try my 22-250 with a 36 gr. Wow!
