    Wyoming 'Antelope

So we're after pronghorn antelope in northeastern Wyoming this weekend. I have to describe it as a target-rich environment.

330 or so yard shot on a nice buck. He ran about about 50 yards and folded up.

Our hunting buddy (who is an outfitter in the area) said that's the first antelope he's seen taken with a black rifle. (That made me feel pretty good.)

Before we set up on the buck, he said he was thinking about building a Grendel. I think this may have convinced him to go ahead with it. I'll try to get pictures up when I get back to my own internet connection.

That said, I don't want to overstate my shot. A buddy on the hunt had just folded up another buck at 450 yds with a 243 Win. So far it's been an epic outing. We're going back out in the morning for our third group member to get his goat.

Congratulations on your successful hunt! I was in WY a couple of weeks ago with my son and 2 friends and all 4 of us took bucks with our 16" Grendel carbines....not what folks conventionally think of as a "western rifle" but just right for the application in my opinion. Here're the thread I posted.

4 nice pronghorn antelope bucks down before lunch on opening day. Last week I was fortunate enough to travel to Wyoming to antelope hunt with my 13 year old son and two of my friends. It was my son’s first antelope hunt, and our first time to hunt this specific area. We drove by the area the evening before, made a game plan

Congrats again and post some pics when you get a chance.

PA, I had seen your thread and congrats on getting your goats, especially your son. My daughter got hers a few years ago on our first trip to Wyoming (pre-Grendel) and that was another epic trip. A buddy of mine was telling me I needed to use my 270 WSM if my shot was in the 400 yd range so I packed it up there with me. Your post probably put me over the edge to take the shot with the Grendel.

I'm struggling with uploading pic's and I'm waiting on a decent version of the video we captured.

      Stay tuned.

Here's a couple pics. He caught my eyes closed on the profile shot.

Thank you for the info. Nice blaster, but you already have proof of that.

Thanks Jim Bob. It feels pretty good to get a rifle/scope/ammo combo that you have confidence in.

I've got the form printed, but haven't sat down with the tape yet.
