    First Grendel Build Complete

Hi all on the Grendel forums! I am sharing my latest creation, and my first Grendel build.
    Some details:
    Barrel: Odin Works 18" Intermediate
Muzzle Brake: Precision Armament M11 Severe Duty
    Lower: Anderson multi-cal lower
    Upper: AR Stoner
    Scope: Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 PA
Handguard: ALG Defense 15" Free Float
Stock: SIG stock, a left over extra from my other AR
Coating: Brownell's Alumahyde FDE. I have a lot of black guns, so I went out on a limb this time for a change.

Nice build there. Pretty close in concept to my intentions of 18" bbl / 15" ALG hand guard.
Thoughts or comments on the ALG rail relative to installation, alignment, and performance?
    Cheers!

Nice. You bridged your scope from upper to the handguard.

You'll want to fix that with a 1-piece mount so that it is only clamped to the upper receiver.

Look up barrel whip and handguard flex on slow motion, high speed photography to understand why.

Looks like you have enough room to move the forward ring back to the receiver rail.

Darn good looking rifle! How's she shoot? I would take LRRPF52'some advice though, I've done enough lurking here to take it as gospel.

Thanks, JPM! Sorry for the late reply. The ALG handguard was pretty easy to install. It gives set recommendation combos for the barrel nut shims, which I ended up not using because I could not get proper enough alighnment of the gas tube slot and the proper tension. I used a combo that it did not list, but I got a good alighment and a good tight fit. Regarding performance, I have not shot it yet, but it is comfortable in the hands and light weight.

              LRRPF52,

thanks for the advice. I forgot about the flex in the handguard. I will be sure to remedy that ASAP.

                Frank45,

I have yet to shoot it, unfortunately! I'm waiting on the bolt, and then I'll take it out with the chrony to test the rifle and the rounds I made. More soon...
