Anyone using Nikon on there Grendel

I see a lot of vortex users on this site, but I hardly see any mention of Nikon. I just got a 4x16x50 Monarch 3 and it is really clear, it's not the BBC reticle and was just over $500 on Amazon. I guess I'm just curious why so few use Nikon

I have nikons on every rifle i currently own but will never buy another. I feel like everyone i purchase is lower quality then the previous but more expensive. The turrets on the last nikon i purchased didn't line up with the line on the scope at all and the top turret was angled and not flat. I mailed it back and they did replace it without question which i guess is a positive for nikon but the scope should have never passed qc.

I'm sure there are several members here that use Nikon's.

Nikon's and Bushnell's use to be all I used and thought they couldn't get better, then I got my first grendel and had a need for a new scope for it and decided to give all the talk I read on vortex a try, I went with their diamondback line and it was better then any Bushnell or Nikon scope I had ever owned.

Now I'm useing their diamondback hp line of scope's and for me and how I use my scope and what I see throw it no Nikon in the same class could hope to come close to my vortex.

Others may think different then I but it's my experience with the two scope brands.

I have only used 4-12 or 4-16 power scopes, so have no advice to give when comparing their other scope lines.

I'm with A5 on the nikons. I've seen some good ones in past years but quality seems to have fallen. Vortex scopes are hard to beat for the money. I've never owned a Nikon but have mounted/sighted in a barrel full of them. I've personally owned mostly leupold, some Simmons (back in the day when $ was scarce), bushnell, kahles, and one athlon Midas BTR. The athlon is a great scope as well. I plan to have another very soon.

I have the 4x16x50 Monarch 3 XRT with the turrets set for tbe 123SST and 31.6 grains of CFE. This works well for the wife. Laser range find your distance and dial it in on the turret and let it fly. She only shoots to 600 yards so this is pretty much "dummy-proofed".

Hey Jakal that is the exact same Nikon as mine, did you send the turrets to Nikon after zeroing with that ammo and have them calibrated for that round?
I dont reload so im thinking about using the Hornady SST ammo to zero, how much better is your hand loaded ammo? I have a 18 inch match barrel.
            thanks

I have a Monarch 7 that was a replacement for a failed Nikon Tactical. The 7 actually has better glass, but a somewhat thicker reticle. It lists at $900+.

Very good scope for the money, certainly the glass is as good as my PST.

Hello bwaites, I do have the scope with the custom turret
form that came with the scope, do I have to send nikon the
turrets off of the scope or will they just send me new turrets if I do the former online.
                  Thanks Ron
