Grendel Short Barrel Group Buy Orders

    NFA Disclaimer

Once a sub 16" barrel is assembled into a complete firearm, it becomes a regulated item by the National Firearms Act (NFA), unless assembled into an AR Pistol. Please check with your local and state municipalities for any further regulatory requirements. It is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure they comply with all NFA rules and applicable laws.

If you are interested in placing an order email me at me.cory.m.clark@gmail.com . Expect a reply from me with the order form and deposit agreement attached, within 48 hours.

    Barrel Count
    Ordered: 19
    Goal: 30 - Need: 20
    Deposits: 12
    Paid For: 0

    Barrel Length Score
    12.5" - 27
    11.5" - 19
    10.5" - 2

    Prices
    $325 per Barrel
    $75 Fluting
    $20 per Muzzle Cap

I've asked for your first and second choice of barrel lengths in the Order Forms. I've using a weighted scoring system to determine the winner, possibly 2 winners. Each first choice is 3 points and each second choice is 2 points.

The minimum order is 20 barrels. If we can get an order of 25 barrels and at least 10 for a second length, there will be 2 barrel length options in this order.

I've got the itch for an 11.5" Grendel Black nitrated barrel. PDW/Truck/Tree Stand Gun. However, I'm open to a 10.5" & 12.5" too.

Lilja requires a minimum order of 20 barrels to do this. Obviously I can't make this purchase on my own.

Lilja will have Manson Reamers in the near future and the use of SAAMI Spec Grendel Manson reamers will be a requirement for this purchase.

There's a discount for 5+ barrels and an additional discount for ordering sub 15" barrels. Dan Lilja is ready to quote me a final price once we get him a number of barrels being ordered.

Expect no more expensive than $425 per barrel, and fluting $115 per barrel.

Interested in opinions from anyone with sub 14" Grendels.

    SPECS:
Bolt used for Head Spacing - Maxim Firearms 6.5 Grendel Bolt 0.135" recess
    Fluted - Optional
Contour - modified AR740 cut to length
    Length - TBD (12.5", 11.5", or 10.5")
    Gas System - Carbine Length
    Twist - 8" (subject to change to a 7.5")
    Thread - 5/8X24

    Terms of the Group Buy

    Due Date - 20140821

    Payment Methods

Personal Check or Money Order made out to:
.....Lilja Precision Rifle Barrels Inc. for Lilja items. (See columns AT & AW)
.....Spikes Tactical (See columns AV & AY)
.....Cory Clark (See columns AU & AX)

Deposits will be due the 21st of August, 2014. I know this is a little short notice, but we'd like to get the barrels ASAP.

    Deposit Policy

With this deposits there presents the possibilities of complications with the final payment, to include legal complications for myself. I don't want to hold up shipping of the barrels and other items while I wait for one or two individuals to pay. I also run the chance of being liable for someones deposit if they so decided to back out of the buy before final payment is made.

Therefore I've elected to utilize a modified version of the a one page document I drafted for the original Lilja Group Buy. I'll require every buyer to print, initial, sign and send to me with your deposit, unless the order is paid in full up front.

In the document I've committed to giving the buyer 21 days to make final payment upon public notification payment is due. This should allow the buyers two (2) pay checks before the final payment is due.

Dan expects to get these barrels out quickly, expect 3 to 4 week after Lilja receives the deposits. Spikes Tactical will get me an eta once we get them the order. It'll be dependent on the size of the order.

It may be necessary to collect final payments two parts. If the Spikes and Lilja orders come ready at different times. I doubt this will be the case, but be a prepare for a two week difference.
Final Payment will be set due as soon as Dan or Spikes gives me a solid ETA.

If it's possible to give a buyer a few more days to pay I will, but I don't guarantee I'll be able too.

I don't want to take anybody's barrel, parts, and/or deposit. I'll do everything I can to help someone out, but I can't afford to pay for multiple items and wait for the buyers to pay me.

I refuse to beg for money from anyone for anything. I'll go out of my way to insure you know funds are due, but beyond that I'm not going to be able to chase you down asking for money.

I'll pay for all the unpaid items I can afford too, if necessary. I'll hold onto them for a few weeks, if possible, to allow the original buyer time to pay for the item(s). However, once I invest my money into the item the buyer will now owe the full price of the item, minus their deposit. Plus total shipping cost.

    Please don't make this necessary.

I know 90+% of you will not, and I hope this is completely unnecessary.

Deposit Agreement will be emailed with the order form.

Precision Firearms Bead Blast and Black Nitride Service

The barrels need to be Bead Blasted before the nitride process. Otherwise they'll come back a glossy black, as I understand it.

I've talked to Mark at PF and he can do that for us and handle the Nitride for us. It'll be $15 a barrel for the bead blasting and an additional $32 for the nitride.

If anyone is interested in getting their barrel nitrided, there's room to send it in with our order. Just let me know.

            Spikes Tactical Monolithic Upper

I've contacted Spike's Tactical about getting a volume price on their BilletUpper - Gen II - SAR3 Barrel Nut and SAR3 Rail minus the unneeded barrel nut.

Our mission is simple, we strive to build the highest quality AR-15's firearms, and offer them at the best possible price.

$30 discount on the rail because of the barrel nut we won't need. As of right now at 5 combos we're looking at a 20% discount.

Rails will not come with the barrel nut for the milspec upper receivers, see $30 discount.

I've got the setup with the 13.2" rail for my 16" Grendel Build. Here's a couple of pictures.

Imagine this with a shorter rail and ~4" shorter barrel.

The upper weighed in at 12.5oz and the 13.2" rail weighed in at 8.3oz minus barrel nut.

Let me know if you're interested in a spikes tool.
            Spike's Tools

I can get their BCGs minus the 5.56 bolt at an adjusted price if you're interested
            Phosphate - $90
            NiB - $115
New Light Weight NiB - $140

If you are interested in placing an order email me at me.cory.m.clark@gmail.com . Expect a reply from me with the order form and deposit agreement attached, within 48 hours.

The 60+ barrel reference in post 2 was a typo. I've modified some of the verbiage I used from the first group buy and missed a line.

I expected ~30 barrels an ~30 Uppers/Rails in this group buy, in case anyone was wondering.

I held one of those SAR3 rails in my grubby little paws earlier this evening, it felt like it was going to float away. It was really stunning, and it was the 12" rifle length one. The Geissele one felt like a boat anchor in comparison. I have little fear of contradiction in saying you won't be disappointed.

I told a couple of people that I was going with the Spikes Phosphate Bolt carrier for my build. That has changed, so I thought it only right that I made sure they knew that.

After handling/admiring my PF Phalanx (Nitride) BCG today, I got to looking at the prices and it's only a $10 increase to go that route. That's a no brainer for me. My build will be using the PF BCG.

Of course the Spikes BCGs minus bolts will still be available.

If anyone needs to change their order, they can at any time before the deposits are due.

Keep the orders coming at let's get these rifles built before deer season.

A guy on SnipersHide made an interesting, and I think convincing, case for an 11" carbine-length and a 13" mid-length SBR. Food for thought. . . .

That's a great thread, with great timing.

They are talking 5.56 ARs and that should be keep in mind. I will throw this out that I suspect that a 12.5" Grendel would better correlate with a 11.5" 55.6 and an 11.5" Grendel would better correlate with the 10.3", in terms of dwell time and pressure at the muzzle.

An 11.5" Grendel Upper would be the perfect compliment to a 20"+ Grendel Rifle for that hunting trip you're looking forward to.
