    Recovered 100 TTSX

This bullet was recovered from the 60 pound hog in front. The shot entered the snout and one fragment stopped in the left shoulder. The other we found on the ground as we sprayed the concrete before starting to skin the next hog.

Two bullet fragments that weighed a total of 39.8 grains. I expected the bullet to hold together better. It looks like I'll be using a different bullet for hogs in the future.

Don't think I've ever seen reports of a broken Barnes. A few lose petals here and there, but never broken in half (if that's what I'm seeing in your pix).

What it looks like to me is the bullet broke into at least 3 pieces. The two recovered pieces appear to be the petals/front portion of the bullet broken in half.

Did this TTSX encounter a tusk or molar? Teeth are the hardest substance in the body, and have been known to stop bullets.

                Very interesting!

I would say performance of that TTSX is out of the ordinary, not a result indicative of what TSX's or TTSX's typically do. I've never personally recovered a Barnes bullet before, always had complete pass throughs. That being said, I haven't shot through a skull either and I'am shooting the heavier 120gr. TSX. You might try a shoulder shot before giving up on that bullet.

I'm pretty sure it entered above the top of the teeth.

The wound channel from a shoulder shot was impressive. It looked like someone had shoved a 1.5" diameter Phillips screwdriver through both scapulae. What impressed me most about that shot was that it was already expanded before hitting the first scapula because the + was clearly visible in the meat.

Out of curiosity at what range was this pig at when you shot it?

If you're impressed with the fast expansion on a shoulder shot, and you obliterated the hog taking a frontal shot...man I don't see why you're wanting any other bullet!

I can't really disagree at this point. It just surprised me that the bullet broke apart when I thought it would never happen.

That's why I trust the gilding metal construction of the Gmx, E tips. Never had a splitter like that . Gilding is stronger- we sent them thru everthing we could find- only a few petals broke off--- mseric was there for one h2o test from hell that I did 3 yrs. ago.

I agree, bone or tooth hit did this, oh well nice shooting, enjoy the pig roast! Send a pic of it done on the bbq. setup. Droool....

I have recovered a 62 grain ttsx from a whitetail doe. Note this was from a .223 not a Grendel AR. it had a couple petals off. It traveled through the doe strangely. It went in right in the boiler area behind the shoulder at 100 yards standing straight broadside. dropped her on the spot. went to get her and no exit. took her home and skinned her and found the 62 ttsx had went through the heart and lung then veered off up into the neck severing spinal cord and stopping under the skin up by her ear and lodged just under the skin. weirdest thing I ever seen. I bet I went more than 20 inches in a curvy path.
