    Hornady 95 gr VMAX

Grafs is showing them in stock.

With its combination of proven materials, innovative design and streamlined profile, the Hornady® V-MAX® represents the pinnacle of what a specialized varmint bullet can achieve, offering straight-line trajectories, enhanced accuracy, dramatic expansion and explosive fragmentation at a wide range of distances and velocities. The industry's leading varmint bullet with polymer tip and streamlined design results in flat trajectories. The concentricity of the match grade AMP® bullet jacket provides maximum accuracy at all ranges as well as explosive expansion, even at velocities as low as 1600 fps. POLYMER TIP:  The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-Max® is a hollow cavity resting between the tip's shaft and the body of the bullet. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds up speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand to the point of violent fragmentation, even at low terminal velocities. HIGHER BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT:  Hornady® combines the sharp, pointed polymer tip with the most aerodynamic profile for a high ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX® profile also provides the maximum bearing surface for added in-flight stability. SWAGED LEAD CORE:  The swaging process allows precise formation of the core up and around the tip, with a cavity under the tip's stem. This allows the tip to build up energy before smashing into the core, causing dramatic fragmentation of the core and jacket. PRECISE BOATTAIL & FLATBASE DESIGNS:  Utilizing the proper base design provides incredible in-flight stability for long-range shooting. This is not loaded ammunition.

    Same with Midway USA - at $30.99/box !! http://www.midwayusa.com/product/668...ail-box-of-100

And Cheaperthandirt for $23.33 - $27.73 depending on warehouse http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/9-1609

And I got notice from Midsouth last week that my backorder (for $24.18/box) for them was ready to ship, so Hornady must have recently completed a big run of them and are filling the pipelines.
My "6.5" = 24" AA Overwatch upper 1/9 twist, NC based US Tactical lower, standard A4 6 position stock, AR Gold Trigger, JPS SCS buffer, Vortex 6-24 x 50 FFP PST with EBR-2C MOA reticle

Cowabunga, dude! Surf the bullet wave!

I hope this is a sign that some of the other lines are going to receive attention. I really miss the Z-Max.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

Other than the marketing ploy of the Zombie Box and green tips (and generally cheaper price and better availability - at least in .204 and .224 calibers) are Zmax bullets different than Vmax bullets? Were they available in different weights in .264 than a Vmax? At least for the .204 32 gr. Vmax/Zmax bullets, Hornady told me they were the same.

I've loaded the 55 grain .224's and shot them just as accurately as their VMax counterpart, and to similar effect. Not one zombie Prairie Dog ever survived. Cost was definitely an attractive aspect, as well. I don't believe they have made any in 6.5 / .264, though. If they did, I don't think I'd hesitate for one second, regardless of weight.

The Hornady web site does not list a 6.5mm/.264 Z-Max. Only the 95 gr V-Max.

                Thanks for the heads up!

Midway still had them, and I was happy to not have to trade with lowerthandirt.

I feel the same way about "LTD" - they were really gouging when supplies were tighter, and that left a bad impression with me. But now their prices for a lot of primers, powder and bullets are coming down and Midway is higher. For many items, which are NOT reloading components, Amazon (with PRIME accounts and free shipping) is often one of the cheaper sources. Unfortunately, if you live in a state where they signed a tax agreement with your Dept. of Revenue, they will charge you sales tax, even if they don't have any presence in your state. Although Amazon does charge NC residents sales tax, I am lucky because some of my employees live in South Carolina and I ship to their house (because Amazon doesn't charge Sales tax to SC residents) and they bring my order in the next day.

So now that some shooters have these things in their hands, what are people's go to powders for loading? Hodgdon seems to think that 8208 XBR is a good powder for it. Max load being 31.0gr (compressed) resulting in 2840 fps and 49,600 psi (still a bit shy of max pressure).

H335 is the only powder that tops it in velocity, but it is over 50,000psi but for only 1 fps more.

20" BHW barrel shoots about 1/2" at 100 velocity 2740
                            works great on coyotes.
