here's a challenge. .best bullet for deer and coyotes

Ok i know a guy that would like to use one bullet for both deer and coyotes.
Minimal hide damage for coyotes but will still penetrate bone on deer. .what would you recommend?
I'm thinking the 123sst or barnes 100gr ttsx.

Until hornady makes a lighter gmx, the Barnes will be the best bet IMO..

Barnes TTSX. I've seen numerous deer shot with the 100 grn Barnes, perfect deer bullet for the Grendel.

yea I know the TTSX works great on deer, thats why i am considering that one...just not sure how friendly it would be on a coyote...should be too bad because it will hold together

It will hold together but will probably exit on a coyote making two holes, one significantly larger than the other.

right now most of the ones i have shot with my Grendel have resulted in no more than a 1" exit...I'm good with that. and those were with 105gr interbond and 95gr gmx

If you are using a magazine fed rifle (like the AR) you can carry 2 magazines at a time. Load 1 up with your perfect deer bullet the 2nd with your coyote bullet. Switch out as necessary.

100gr Barnes ttsx shot 6 yotes this winter largest exit hole was like 3/4" and took a doe at 455meters dropped here in her tracks (in all fairness i screwed up on figuring the drop and spined her ) but a kill is kill its meat in the freezer

I got excellent accuracy out of my 16" 6.5 Grendel with 29.0 grains H-335, CCI 450 primers, Hornady Brass with the 100 grain TTSX. I never chronographed this load but my water testing was very impressive. IMR8208XBR would also be a good powder to try. Another bullet to consider is the 100 grain Nosler Hunting Ballistic Tip. I have read where this bullet has been used on Deer with success but I have no personnel experience with the 100 grain NBT except in water testing.

There are several user feed back on the 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip .264 on Midway USA, worth reading if your interested.

Hate nosler ballistic tip bullets for deer if it's 100 or less it acts like a grenade blew a shoulder all to hell on a deer shot at 80 yds

I meant to post this earlier, here's the EXIT wound on a 175lb whitetail buck. AA loaded 120gr. TSX @ 160 yards. The entrance was square on the shoulder so this bullet took out a LOT of bone on its way through the body cavity. Very minimal deflection and lots of internal tissue damage.
