I'm new to ARs and am looking at a 6.5 upper for paper/steel punching and maybe pronghorn hunting in the glorious Basin & Range states. Just getting back into shooting sports - used to shoot pistols in metallic silhouette, hunting, and general plinking. It's been enjoyable reading this forum and learning about the Grendel, hope to get some help selecting a 16 or 18" upper. CA sure added a lot of new gun laws in the last 15 years to get caught up on...

Welcome aboard. I just saw a guy at a local range here in UT who had come from CA, and he was happier than a pig in poo-poo shooting people's suppressed and SBR guns at the range. He had a lot of high dollar AR15's and SCAR's with bullet buttons for CA compliance.NRA Basic, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, RSO
