I have been on the forum only about a month. I would like a link to your posts. I have 3 types of bullets to test. 120gr TTSX, 100gr TTSX and 100gr TTSX. I will be using CFE-223. I appreciate any help you can offer. A2
usmc16- click on my Arnold pic- Avatar, then look for Albums & More- 2 separate items. click on each pic-scroll down to bottom of each- an explanation is Usually there.
I think only Grrr forum members can see them...?
BTW, I'm making 85-87 gr. Barnes TSX pills to try out for this fall's hunt. 3 grooves. Cut down from a 120 Tsx. No tip to ooops- it melted out.
I can amp these a tic. 2950-2980 fps. Maybe.
It's time to go for bullets made- from more manufactures in lighter forms.
These were my original 6.5 test units to lighten. Daddy likey!!!!
Start with the 100's. I run my 95' Gmx @ 34.4 cfe. For the 100's--start at 33.0- idle up to an accurate round, don't go past 33.7 ! Pretty easy to dial in these monolithic leadfree pills.
After a few tries- it will become easier for you. It's a bulky powder- set a 1/4 " drill bit in-upsidedown-blunt end in first. then gently tap against plastic- never metal- or hold against
your plastic tumbler bowl lip, while running- to help compact the powder a bunch- 6 seconds is about right. Done! The powder will flex & bend enough to get a nice full case loading. 100 %. = Ultra accurate in our well loved- well hated Grendel round .
Were looking at Tac for a few others, H335 for a few more. test data is to follow this spring.
31gr CFE coal=2.245 with 120gr GMX. No pressure signs. 5 shot group all touching. I am sure I could go hotter, but no need to. Shot out of a 24" .264LBC Neptune V bull barrel.
Sorry, no chrony #'s.
WB, did you check the expansion of a slow pill -catch it in water jugs. It's too heavy for the bearing surfaces to allow enough speed to open fully.
That's why I went lighter with this since day 1. I have 95 Gmx's @ 2900- from my 20"-- it works fine. Very accurate too! 2 dead deer will attest to that fact.
I run them a tic warm- maybe 52-53K for pressure @ 34.4 cfe.- the 95's. Oal of 2.31. Check YOUR chamber, don't follow this load advice. YOUR'S may not allow this setup!!!!!!
Ask Rickoshay of his work with the 120 Gmx's. Then, all the other Gmx wts., that I sent to him for gel tests. We've been busy...

I looked at your albums. What/how are you turning the 120 GMX's down to 95 grains or less? I just bought 2 boxes of the 120 GMX blems and will either use them in the 6.5swede or possibly try turning some down in the lathe or mill if not too labor intensive....LOL If it's easy, I'd consider buying a few more boxes.
I just shot some of the 94.3gr GMX's into really solid Douglas Fir tree stumps up in the mountains yesterday to compare with 123gr SST and 7mm Rem Mag 165gr SP.
I hung a thin steel plate up in front of the log for the first GMX I shot through it, just to see if it would cause upset to the pill. It yawed significantly in the dense wood, but still penetrated 10-11", and was fully intact.
The SST's lost a lot of weight, and the 7mm Mag lost the most, lead showered like crazy, splattering small lead all over on one shot, and mushrooming into a small little ball on another. There is almost no weight loss with the GMX, even with passing through a mild steel oven cover.
94.3gr GMX on left, 123gr SST on right. I think sneaky is onto something with these, and hope Hornady follows suit.

I just shot them into cut sections of tree at 50yds. Haven't shot them in gel yet. Still need to chrono, but I was using 33.9gr of CFE under them. Brass looks textbook, no issues at all, nice dimples, no flattening, no swipes, but I still need to chrono.

They all penetrated about the same, with the 94 GMX retaining more weight than any of them. There was hardly anything left of the 7mm 165gr pills, blew apart lead splatter. I'm going to develop some loads for them with the 7mm 139gr GMX going over 3000fps. It will have less recoil, good BC, no real weight loss.
