What's the diameter on top of the band? It almost looks like the bands are .277 or so and the grooves are .264. Just noticed a lot of smear in the groove where there really shouldn't be any. Maybe I'm losing it but just looking.

Richard, bands — as drawn — are 0.2642, grooves are 0.2560.

I've loaded some up, but haven't had a chance to get to the range. Hopefully the weather and work will both cooperate on the same day, soon!

I vibratory settled them, which allowed me to get as much as 31.3grs into the case.

There they are next to the 112gr LRX Prototypes.

Be careful Cory. This is same as uncharted territory as when I lit up my Gmx researches.

Man I have been too busy over the years

Cory, gonna be some cool testing, particularly with the higher charges of XBR. Hodgdon's 90 TNT has 31.0C of XBR generating pressure of 42,400 psi; same charge weight under a 95 V-Max pressures 49,600.

Generally, pressure = velocity (and we like to use high BC to beat that equation), but in studying the various reloading manuals there are some instances where less pressure still generates more velocity due to other factors, and it is those "magic" powders we hope to find!

Hey, D23, sorry, no tested BC, just calculated from dimensions, etc.

BC on most bullets jumps about 3-4 hundredths with pointing them, and this tip is sharper than any pointing die creates. So I'm guessing its about .45-.47 using that calculation. Which makes it a kicking bullet. I'll do some drop calculations at 100 and 450 next time I get to the range.

I'm very excited for everyone that's involved in this journey of taking an idea, putting it on paper to proto type. The Grendel crowd is not just a board to come and get info it's a family.

Now I need to learn to reload so I can play with some of these cool ideas.

Been a fan of the Grendel from the very beginning and haven't second guessed that choice one time.

I've looked at the pics of this pill and can't figure out if it has driving bands or relief grooves such as a Barnes. Looks like drive bands. Which is it? If it's driving bands they look like they need to be a little wider, but pictures are deceiving.

I was not able to capture one. Both exited out of the side of the 6th jug.

                                Richard,
I think they are best described as relief grooves but I don't have any more to look at. I sent them all down range.
John would be the best source to answer your question.
