Norma 6.5 Grendel Brass on Sale @ Midway

    $77.96 per 100 pieces

If anyone is interested I just noticed this.
Priced less than Lapua, and about the same as Hornady.
I have always understood that Norma is top shelf brass, but have never used any personally.
Has anyone used any of this? If so... opinions please.

Check the last couple pages of this thread:

Just curious what manual seems to have the most data for the grendel. I'm loading 123 and 130gr pills for my new bolt action build and using mainly CFE 223 at this time. I was gonna order a manual because I'm not having much luck finding data on the CFE or 130gr loads. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know if the Norma brass takes large or small primers?

Only bought Norma one time for .243 and it's the only brass I've ever bought that had around 3 or 4 defective brass ( pin holes in necks ) in the 500 m/t's. Norma replaced the defects but I did not think it was any better than Hornady brand.

                Small Rifle Primers

The Nosler brass I have looks really exceptional. Case mouths all chamfered perfectly, uniform case lengths, weights, all around looking like top quality brass.

Norma makes the brass for Nosler.

Monmouth Reloading has Lapua brass on sale.

I picked up 40 (2 x 20 box) before the 'clearance' deal went away. Got a box of 50 Hornady from Midway on sale as well since I figured I should try different brass out when I finally get this 6.5G built. That and the loaded PPU brass I'll recover should give me some idea of which to standardize on.

Monmouth reloading has the 100 box of Lapua on sale @87.99. 4+ boxes will drop that to $79.19.

It seemed like a deal to me since I've never seen it that cheap before but others may have it for less.

I picked up a box of those as well. If I'd have had the scratch I'd have gone for 5 boxes.

Is the LAPUA brass in 6.5G a lot better than the Hornady stuff? I thought I had been reading that it wasn't much better if any.

I am going to order 400 peices and already have an order I am going to put in at midway. In basics, it will cost about $46 more to get the LAPUA, or $0.12 more/peice.

Welp, I went for it and ordered 400 pieces of LAPUA. I'll run 100 of them identically as 100 hornady I have on hand and document it for myself to compare.

edit to add: Midway just threw the Norma 20 piece sets back up for sale at $16.01 --- odd.

I ended up ordering a few to try.

I'm sure I'll like the Lapua better. This way I will have a comparison and I can segregate loads by Head stamp.

Norma brass came in today and looks great . Mouths are debured and chamfered . The primer hole is deffinetly smaller than hornady brass has and the primers fit very snug on CCI primers .
