    Plastic tips

Who - on here has the idea of what Hornady did with replacing the poly tips- with a something that doesn't melt past 300 yds.

I keep thinking carbon fiber ? Some other plastic ? Aluminum ? ,

i think its just a different plastic some kind of polycarb based on the looks of it and it only an issue with cartridges that start well over 3000 and go really far things along the lines of the 26 nosler

I called their tech support to confirm that their 16" Grendel data listed on the website is in fact from a 14.5" Grendel with a pinned muzzle device, and also asked about whether they were going to replace the tips on the 123gr AMAX.

After Doppler radar testing, they were able to determine that the 123gr AMAX doesn't maintain the speed/friction-induced deformation as long as a 140gr AMAX, for example, so it didn't need the new tips.
