First test with XBR and 123 Amax???

Alright guys, started load testing yesterday.
Not sure what to think yet.
    24" AA upper
    123 AMax
    XBR
    Hornady brass
    CCI 450
    Temp-85 deg
    Elevation-500ft

Shooting prone, 175 meters. (mil spec trigger and I still suck).
    No Chronograph yet.

    27.0 1.222"
    27.3 1.262"
    27.6 2.696"
    27.9 1.208"
    28.2 2.073"
    28.5 1.780"

Not sure what these groups represent in MOA?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    175 meters = 191 yards.

For using a rack-grade trigger, those are exceptional 5rd groups. Here is how they break down in MOA:

    27.0 1.222" 0.598 MOA
    27.3 1.262" 0.618 MOA
    27.6 2.696" 1.3203 MOA
    27.9 1.208" 0.5916 MOA
    28.2 2.073" 1.0152 MOA
    28.5 1.780" 0.8717 MOA

Average: .83 MOA across 6 different loads, 5rd groups, rack trigger.

    Here's the calculator I used: http://www.indecorous.com/bullseye/moacalc.html

Slap an AA, Geissele, or JP trigger in there and see what happens. You have a shooter though for sure.

      Thank you Sir!
Yes, I agree. All extra "gun" money go to a new trigger.

I did the same basic test w/CFE223 right after this XBR test...

All groups horrible! I didn't even bother measuring them, not sure what up with that powder yet.

Thanks for the link, by the way.

Funny. I get excellent results with CFE223 and the 123gr AMAX. The recoil is different with it compared to XBR though.

XBR feels like a light punt, whereas CFE feels more like a prolonged push.

Great group, I'd say your barrel likes that load!

CFE sometimes does not run well. My Bartlein and Lilja shoot AR-COMP great but the Bartlein does not like CFE.
I've learned to pull a bore snake before and after using CFE. Something about the additives in that powder.

So the Lilja shoots CFE/123 SSTs and the Bartlein shoots AR-Comp/123 Scenars.

Got a 12" pistol, going to try XBR/100grn TTSX for its load.

Good triggers make all the difference in the world.
