123 amax with AR Comp report

This has pretty much become my go to load for this rifle (Lilja 23 inch). In may I ran several shots of this load through my Chrony with the following results:

    Average: 2590 fps
    ES: 16 fps
    STD: 5 fps

The load is a little hotter than what I've seen from others on this site at 28.3gr and a coal of 2.262.

Today I took a couple rifles out to the range including my Grendel (others: 260 savage & yugo SKS). Here's a couple of groups.

10 Shot group at 100 yards:

5 Shot group at 200 yards:

I feel like I can tighten these up a little more but overall I'm happy.

Thanks for the info. I am considering AR comp. is it an extruded powder? In terms of burn rate where does it fall? is it similar to A2520?

Yes, it's an extruded powder. It meters well through my Lymen Gen 6.

Shortly after it was released a person from Alliant posted in a thread over at the accurate shooter forums that AR Comp was slightly faster than RL-15. Right around IMR 4895. I also heard "between varget and RL-15, so it's right around that medium burn rate. Seems about right to me because I use a couple grains less of AR Comp vs Varget in my 223 loads.

I noticed the same from AR Comp. 28.4g under a 123 AMAX @ 2.255" COAL is consistent in my rifle with good speed ~2625. CCI 450 and 2x Hornady brass. I do understand this is a hotter load, but primers show very minimal flattening compared to my below-max charge of CFE223.

Im not sure how you guys did that.

My loads with AR Comp were compressed at 27.4 grains using the 123 Amax bullet.

          I like mine at 2.245".

I use a sonicare toothbrush to vibrate down the powder, works very well.

My load is compressed but I am seating it a bit further out than you (2.262). That provides enough room that I'm not having to do anything special to settle the powder. They feed fine from my AR stoner and AA mags.

You can also hold the charged cases on your vibratory tumbler to settle compressed loads.

This is good to know, I started loading some last night and was nervous cause the load book didn't say they would be compressed.
