I was considering a 6mm more common than even 6.5 Grendel.

For 243 Win, I can get collet dies easily and brass is readily available.

A member here, Frontier Gear, had another post where he convinced me I don't need anything more than my 6.5 Howa Grendel.

Still, it sure is fun to buy new guns.

I just bought the last one of these. I couldn't resist the price.
I posted earlier in this thread how I would end up at 6x45.

This article influenced my decision. Now I need dies.

Would there be a potential safety problem or will 6x45 not chamber in a 5.56 chamber?
      I'm thinking it won't.

Which one did you get? Link not working. I’ve been sooooooo tempted to order one since they went to 75% off but I have way too many projects right now.

I would think the bullet won’t fit into the neck area of a 223/556 chamber

They deleted the link to the barrel already. I just checked.
I bought the 6x45, 18", 1:9 twist, bull barrel, target crown. Do the bull barreled BHW have .936 gas blocks?
I am trying to get a confirmation from them before I order parts for this.
          For $95, I couldn't resist.

Edit: Does this link work? It does from here.

Coolio. It should be .936 but give them a call - they are really helpful. When I bought a 556 barrel from them 2 months ago, the girl who answered the phone texted me pictures because it was a special contour. I'm pretty impressed with the 2 barrels I've gotten from them so far - the 556 shoots Norma Tac 223 (which can be found for the price of XM193) at about 1.5 MOA and it does 7 of 10 on 10" at 550.

              SH,
Did you get your 6x45 barrel yet?
I am still waiting for mine.
Their email communication seems non-existant so I think it will just appear on the porch one day.

Not directly related to this thread, but prime ammunition is sending out a survey of what ammo people want to see, and 6mm grendel is an option. Factory ammo would definitely push some people over the edge.

I did - they shipped it out right before xmas. Got a tracking # in my junk box. I didn’t get a tracking number when I ordered the 300 BLK pistol barrel from them at the end of November. - it just appeared on my doorstep about 10 days after ordering. Shot the last 130 rounds I had out of the 556 barrel on Sunday and it went out with a bang - put a club mates 10 yr old on 350 with it! So the upper is ready for the barrel - Just need to wait for a special wrench to get the handguard off the upper and dies.

I bought these dies. I don't know if trimming is necessary but forming seems like no extra effort.
I have to check the trim to length.

My barrel was being sent to lasering when yours was being shipped so mine may be on the way now.

From what I gather, if you Form from 1x, no trimming is needed for a few firings since the necks shorten when they get expanded. Max length should be 1.76 - same as 223/556. Hodgdon states trim length of 1.75 which is the same as 223.

I use the small base dies for 223 and 300 BLK. They definitely work the brass harder and my guess is I get one less firing before trimming is needed, but reliability is high on the list of desirable traits for thoe calibers - especially the BO since one’s HD and one’s a truck gun. I’m on the fence between those and the Reddings.

I am putting together a 16" pencil barreled 223 wylde that I bought over the Thanksgiving sales for $79.
I also bought a 7.5" 300BLK barrel for $59 at the same time.
                        I am done.

Slacker - I finished me Black Friday 300 BLK pistol weeks ago. Shoots inside Minute of Bad Guy to 150 yards!

Time for me get off the can and start loading 6x45 for when my barrel arrives.

                            I have a 16" 300 BLK I haven't shot in a year so I don't have a need for another 300BLK just now.

I posted back in July I would end up back at 223 by way of 6x45 and I have done it.

Besides, I was waiting for a good deal on upper receivers.

                            Your 300BLK pistol looks nice.

I was thinking of leaving out the forward assist and port cover on my newest builds. Any problem?

My 223 AR pistol is my HD weapon.

I bought a big box of 6mm 55g dogtown bullets on my last Midway order
