    Gas tube and block type

Okay guys I plan on building at least 2 more Grendels and I was wanting opinions on gas tubes and gas blocks. Aero precision has a 15% off gas tube sale. My question is which is better and why? Melonite or steel gas tubes and gas block? Any opinions are appreciated.

I just use a plain old gas tube. The gas blocks I normally use are daniels defense or Viltor clamp ons.

The adjustable gas blocks I use are also JP.

It becomes more critical the longer the gas tube becomes, because cheaper gas tubes will warp with heating and start clipping the carrier key, causing accuracy and eventual reliability problems.

There's good reason why the Mil-Std TDP calls for what it does, but AA took it a step further with their gas tubes and the entire manufacturing process for them.

I personally recommend getting a Melonited gas tube if you don't have an AA, especially on a rifle-length system.
