Lurked for over a year for the great info on this site. Just joined from AR15.com to get in on this deal.

BFT, thanks for taking the lead on this. Form and payment have been sent.

When the Army tried to develop the XM8 carbine, they settled on 12" as the optimum standard length. Why? LaRue sells a 12". Lilja sells an 11.5" and a 12.875". Is there some magic in 12.875"? What I see, in the final analysis, is guys just pick a length and run with it.

So my thinking is to split the difference between the common 11.5 and 12.5. I know the claims are that a 10.5 on a carbine gas system is just fine for reliability, but I like a little more barrel, a touch more dwell time, in front of the gas block. For a product line, I like that 12 is different enough from 16 to make the SBR a different animal. If I start creeping up in length, then the whole point of an SBR becomes moot and why not just make it a 14.5 or a 16?

So that brings us to 12".
Great explanation and sound logic. I'm in either way, and hopefully my check for 5 showed up at your doorstep already. Thanks again!

Nope. That would be considered an "assault weapon" under their new definitions in the un-SAFE ACT.

Up to you....i think there are several opinions on this. It will most likely be a few months before we see these barrels, so when did you submit your form 1? Do you have any other sbr lowers? Do you have any relatives who don't own an ar who would be willing to take delivery? Please note.....i am not an NFA lawyer or even extremely well versed in the law......i would not take my advice....

Worst case, buy a cheap pistol lower to keep on hand. Best prices I have found are from palmetto....

I thought(and I don't know why) you could buy the barrel but had to do the paperwork before you could assemble a sbr.

Pistol lower = pistol AR. If it starts out as a pistol lower then you can have the upper built.

The way i read it is i can buy the barrel if i don't have the rest of the parts needed to assemble a functional firearm but since i already have an ar then i cannot own a short barrel without the stamp. Guess i need to wait or have one of you guys hold it for me till my stamp clears. I can decide when this group buy is nearing completion

Given I missed out on the 16" group buy I want two. I just added funds to my PP account. As soon as it clears I will transfer. Is there anyway to email the PDF form without printing it out and scanning it? I can't get Adobe to cooperate.
