Looking to my first AR build on a whitetail, varmint and range gun.
Is this group buy barrel a good place to begin for the type of ar I am building?
I have heard it’s best to have the bolt matched to the barrel. Don’t think that possible here so is that an issue and if not how do I overcome that problem? So far I have just ordered an Aero Precision kit Stripped lower, enhanced upper and 15” mloc hand guard.

I bought this barrel and one of the group buy bolts. Im pretty confident this will be a good match.

Barrels and bolts are not specifically mated to each other, but are specced to match: bolts have boltface depth of 0.136 and barrels are chambered for bolts with boltface depth of 0.136.

Gentlemen, Warriors, and Vile Unwashed of the Horde: Santa's elves have been busy and got all current F18 barrels orders shipped today. I have tracking if absolutely needed, but give it about a week first.

N O T E : Barrels have factory oil on them, so clean inside and out before installing and shooting.

              Merry Christmas! Enjoy.

P.S. I still have 19 available for any Scrooge or Grinch that didn't already get a Xmas present.

P.P.S. M500, my postal guy is the ONE example of competent, intelligent, efficient, and friendly gov't employee. Wish I could say the same about most of our Congress-critters. . . .

BFT, I looked thru the thread but couldn't find the delivery details... will they just put it on the porch or is a signature going to be required?
                  thanks.

It is all about the person. I have two post Offices near me. At the one the personnel are rude and totally unhelpful. The girls at the other one will go out of there way to be helpful. They definitely got the Xmas cookies this year.

I see myself more as a Grinch than a Scrooge, but can you weigh one of those barrels and post the weight? I'm thinking about building a lightweight hunting upper and want to see how it measures up to Faxon's other offerings in 6.5Gr. If there's still one left in a week or two after I sack Whoville, I'm game.

Curious to see what BFT gives for the weight. This post was in the first couple of pages in this thread.

I may be interested in one. Just deciding between 18" or 16"
If you take a look at the 20" thread you can see the calculations that spit out the numbers from the weight of BFT's 16".

                        BFT's 16" weighs 1.92 lbs. or 1 lbs. 14.72 oz.

The 18" should come in at 2.11 lbs. or 2 lbs. 1.72 oz.
The 20" should come in at 2.29 lbs. or 2 lbs. 4.71 oz.
The 12" should come in at 1.55 lbs. or 1 lbs. 8.73 oz.

GF, no signature is required so they'll just deliver it.

Looking at the design of the barrel compared to the 18" Faxon Big gunner profile, I'd venture a guess that this profile will weigh slightly more due to the longer bull section extending from the chamber. Personally, i like this design more. I think a little more meat in that area is a comfort, and it may help relative to heat and whip concerns. The 5rEE is a nice touch too.

Scrooge here. I’m interested in this. Anyone have a range report using this barrel? How long has it been taking for new orders?

Gun control means using both hands.
