Was planning on building a 6.5 Grendel upper for an existing lower, when an AA light upper kinda fell into my lap (Advertised here lol) from a guy who never fired it. It was quite the pita to get the upper, scope, mount and threaded adapter here in time for Deer season. Mount didin't get here in time for Friday late afternoon travel (Got a bone to pick with Brownell's shipping) so early afternoon robbed scope and mount off my existing upper and sighted in before leaving. Still hard for me to believe this thing shoots as well as it does. I was able to get my 88 year old Dad into a muley Sunday morning using my rem 700 syn 243 80gr SP from as far as I could tell about 40-50 yards. Old Jarhead rifleman got it done. It was especially nice because he's had health issues for the first 3 months of this year and hasn't shot one for about 3-4 years. He sounded like a 12 year old lol. He was happy. I was able to take a muley Sat morning with said AR described above from about 50-60 yards with Hornady 123 gr SST as everyone refers to here. Truly blessed, still have Dad to hunt with and good spots to hunt, can it get better?
I cheated.....

I don't know why you think you cheated. In my opinion, you improvised and overcame.

Congrats. Memories with family in the outdoors in our primal state are usually good ones, especially with a successful harvest.
