      The 110gr Hammer Hunter
      Length: 1.23
      G7 Coefficient: 0.204
      Price: $55/50 ($1.10 each)
      Source: Hammer Bullets

Designed to give balance of ballistic coefficient and velocity. Recommended for twist rate of at least 1:8.75

Here is a Hunter recovered after impacting the gel at 2000 fps. I has begun to open up. But shows its designed for
higher velocities than some of the other newer LFPs on the market.

It weighed 104.4 due to losing some material striking the bottom support. Penetration was 28" in a curved path.

        115 gr Barnes TAC-TX
        Length: 1.2845
        G1 Coefficient: .359
        Price: $34.95/50 ($0.72 ea)
        Source: Midwayusa.com

Latest line of LFP's from Barnes is the TAC-TX 115 gr.

I measured 10 of these to average 115.15 grains and measured 0.7630 to ogive. The length was fairly consistent from 1.2825 to 1.2865, with the average at 1.2845.

Initial gel testing shows these open up well below 2000 fps.

        Left: 1660 fps
Right: 1940 fps, penetrated 22.5", diameter 0.51", and weighed 114.2 gr.

Will repeat to target 1850 - 1900 fps.

          The 117gr Hammer Shock
          Length: 1.23
          G1 Coefficient: 0.379
          Price: $53/50 ($1.06 each)
          Source: Hammer Bullets

Stated by Hammer Bullets to be designed for larger game, and a minimum of 1:9 twist.

And here is the 117gr Shock after impacting at 2016 fps. The petals have broken off down to the base. Base penetrated 26.5" and weighed 91.9 gr.

The 118 gr Cavity Back Bullet MKZ
            Length: 1.349
            G1 coefficient: 0.505

            Range Test and Hunt
            210 Boar

The only issue I found with these MKZs is the high variation in weight. I measured 10 projectiles as I pulled them from the box and obtained an average of 117.4 with an ES of 0.7. None weighed 118 gr.

                120 gr Peregrine Plains Master
                Length: 1.293
                G1 Coefficient: 0.466
                Price: $53.85/50 ($1.08 each)
                Source: https://www.peregrinemonolithics.com

                From the Peregrine web site:

                GEL RESULTS

The traces in the gel below are:
0 - the 110gr Controlled Chaos (discussed in another thread)
                1 - 120gr PM hitting at 1551 fps.
                2 - 120gr PM hitting at 1620
                3 - 120gr PM hitting at 1876
                4 - 120gr PM hitting at 1712

It is clear that Shot #1 did not open. It took a fairly straight path and appears to flip after 12" of penetration. The tip was not recovered and I did not see any evidence of separation.

Shots #2 - 4 hit the get a sufficient speed to begin to open up and the tips separated. Shot #2 penetrated about 6" before the tip separated and it appeared to flip in the gel (partially obscured by Shot #3).

Shot #3 shows the tip separating after only about 2-3" of penetration, and then crossed over the path of Shot #4.

A view from under the gel gives a better perspective of when the tips separated for Shots #2-4.

I think these results show that 1800 fps is likely a good minimum velocity or this LFP.

                  Length: 1.4115
                  G1: ND
                  Price: $39.74/50 ($0.80 ea)

Loaded ammunition is available from Fort Scott Munitions at $35.14/20. https://fortscottmunitions.com/produ...3gr-rifle-ammo

Fort Scott Munitions is new to the scene - offering both projectiles and loaded ammo for the G.5 Grendel. The difference in the two models is the band cut in the SCP-1 to reduce bearing surface. The band is 0.2525 dia and about 0.2800 long.

Load data is given on their website for several powders including H335, CFE, TAC, XBR

They claim these LFPs will tumble on impact. Hope to verify that soon with gels.

Here is the MTH recovered from gel after impact at 1996 fps:

The tip is barely starting to open at this speed. The recovered LFP weighed 119.3 gr.

The base appears flattened because it flipped after about 6" of penetration and the base struck the metal base under the gel. The LFP was recovered at the back of the second gel, or about 34" of penetration.

This LFP appears to be designed for much higher velocities than provided by the G.5 Grendel.
