I was hoping to find a sale or percentage off and it looks like optics planet is the best shot. I tend to stay away from open box mailorder aling with vendors with unknown reliability after past episodes.

I know you said your looking for the HST but scope list has the PST with the illuminated reticle and EBR 1 reticle for $499 right now. Also you can offer them a lower price and see if they take it. From what I here they usually counter you and you get a little off of the list price. I had the 4-16 HST on my 18" barreled gun and loved it. With that being said I would gladly take this PST over it because of the illuminated reticle and 50mm objective.

wow, just got backonline and see a lot of great help from this post! i gotta admit that the scope isn't for me, a friend of mine is the one buying and has the specific model chosen for whatever his reasons are. we ended up ordering from optics planet after just getting online and asking for a deal they came right back with about 60 off regular price and with no tax and free shipping he saved 90 bucks or so. i am going to keep a shotcut to cameralandny for sure

I find the best deals on forums like this buying used scopes as people upgrade or go to something else. Also, watch Cabelas as they seem to have Vortex blems or refurbs - I picked up a deal on a VVPST 1-4 at Cabelas "Bargain Cave". Finally, I have had luck on eBay with scopes.
