My hunting partner, Dave, had been telling me about this for a while, but I had yet to see it - hogs getting up on top of the round bales and decimating the bales. Finally got to see it for the first time last night. What is interesting is that not only were the hogs getting on the bales, but Dave had been out the previous two nights and shot hogs off of them. I didn't know if we would see anything or not, but sure enough, they did show up. However, we had to take care of a couple of other hogs first...

LOL, I can honestly say that I know nothing about hay. Just a guess, but around here, most folks do coastal bermuda for their livestock, but that doesn't mean that that is what is is or that is all that it is.Kill a hog. Save the planet.

Well that sux. We put up a lot of coastal Bermuda and Bahia grass for hay. Cattlemen don't have enough trouble as it is. It wont cost me anything , we are now timber producers. They will uproot Longleaf Pine and eat the roots of the plugs right after they are planted. That would've killed me after I hand planted the ones we have.

That was a lot of hogs, saw a group of about 30 on hay a couple times on the side of hwy 6 near Moran TX a few years ago. That was sudan hay which usually has grain when it is cut.
Good going on getting some of them, sounds like you might could get more at that location, as always thanks for sharing,

Just learned from the landowner that the round bales were of wheat, so that may explain why the hogs are so aggressively going after them.Kill a hog. Save the planet.
