    Mag modifications

Ok I used the search button and my best Google fu and can't find a for sure answer if this will work or if someone tryed it and it failed miserably.

I am wanting some polymer mags doesn't matter who it's made by, want them for hunting and range work so 5 rounds is all I need and want.

Can a polymer mag be made to feed 5 rounds of grendel.

If your loads are 2.27 or less and your only loading 5, they will feed through a 20 round or smaller pmag. They may work in 30 round but I haven't tried it.

      Thanks tic for the reply.

Forgot to note rounds will be factory ammo only.

What I'm thinking is a 10 round pmag with a limiter installed so it would be legal for hunting but haven't found any evidence that it will work.

I think I can get 2 or 3 to feed reliably from a 10 round Pmag, but that's about it. Any more than that and the mag swells and will not seat or feed properly. Plastic mags are too thick to work properly.

            Thanks for the reply jurassic.

That's what bothers me, some say it works fine others say not so well.

We need to put a bug in Lancer's ear and get them to make AWM magazines for 6.5 Grendel, now that Wolf steel case is so prevalent and cheap.

I've seen a lot of people experience no issues with 3 rounds loaded in a PMAG, but when I tried it, it didn't work for me for some reason, and I've had excellent reliability with CPRoducts, ASC, and Elanders.

Yea I have a email in to Lancer about a polymer mag.

I'm useing asc 5 round mags now and they work perfectly, only reason I want a polymer 5 round is for hunting, metal mags tend to make noise when something hits it, got busted by a doe this year and thats how she busted me, when I went to shift postions my extra mag hit something in my pack and she heard it.

A polymer mag for hunting would lessen the chances of that happening.

You should have a dedicated magazine carrier for magazines, not have them flopping around in a pack.

I'm working on an integrated hunting pack solution that addresses binos, LRF, rifle, hydration, utility/MISC, modularity, horse and ATV riding, radio, etc.

A5B- I just found my notes about my Magpul trials to get the 6.5 Grrr to run smoothely thru them- made it to 10 , from a 30 rnd. mag., decided for the extra round, mag failed.......

It's still here if anyone wants to send the shipping costs , in advance to get it to them.,, I may have overlooked something

Lancer is the best option as I stated in 09'.-2010

Steel upper feed lips are the best. Plastic lips are too wide for the Grrr round to feed reliabily thru.

                    I was close tho...

Sneaky i would take it off your hands but the problem would be i would still get a ticket if i hunted with it because it did not have a limiter in it.

Mags can not hold more then five rounds, either factory built five round or lager capacity with a limiter.

I guess I'm one very different person then most I don't care about high capacity mags, just want a simple polymer five round mag for hunting, got to be a way to make this happen.

Where have you seen mag restrictions? La?

I just glanced thru the LDWF booklet and didn't see any restriction on mags.

Let me know, I don't want a citation for my ignorance.

Rabiddawg it's a wma ruleing not a state ruleing.

There is two wma's that i hunt that has that rule.
