I load 31.0 grains CFE223 with Nosler 123 grain CC. Gives me the same velocity as factory Hornady 123 grain SST with good accuracy.

Ordered a 1000. Going to try them in both the Grendel and Creedmoor. Thanks VASCAR2. Anybody got load worked up for the Creed?

I find the length from bullet to bullet vary with 123 grain Nosler Custom Competition so I seat them at 2.250-2.255. The tip of the nose are not uniform and affects the overall length of the cartridge even though the length is very close off the ogive. I'm more concerned about reliability than any slight increase in accuracy gained by seating the bullet closer to the lands.

It's been my experience the compound throat SAAMI chamber is very forgiving on accuracy with regards to cartridge overall length or shape of projectiles. I was shooting some 85 grain Sierra Varmint handloads yesterday and have been impressed by their accuracy given it's a very short bullet.

Appreciate the tip! I ordered 2000. I hope they are consistent and accurate at longer ranges, if not, they are cheap enough for plinking.

I'll repost this here from the preferred loads thread:

Finally got a chronograph and took it out yesterday.
                    Temp: 57
                    Wind: Swirling
                    Humidty: 39%
                    Elevation: 600ft

I did a full 50rd load workup (5 rounds each per charge) : Hodgdon lists 25.5-28.5 for 8208XBR but i always skip the first charge and go a little over max checking for pressure signs along the way. Standard disclaimer, don't do what some random guy on the internet does! So 26.1 - 28.8, and I found 2 accuracy nodes

                    Powder: 8208 xbr 27.6
                    Primer: rem 6 1/2
Brass: lapua (1 fire formed, the rest new same lot)
                    Bullet: 123gr Nosler CC
                    COAL: Mag length
                    Barrel length: 20in
                    make: Shilen SS
                    FPS AVG: 2462

                    Powder: 8208 xbr 28.5
                    Primer: rem 6 1/2
Brass: lapua (1 fire formed, the rest new same lot)
                    Bullet: 123gr Nosler CC
                    COAL: Mag length
                    Barrel length: 20in
                    make: Shilen SS
                    FPS AVG: 2591
(For those of you not doing the math at home, that's 1200 FPS at 1k yards)

Thought I would post a quick update on these bullets. Yesterday I loaded 20 each with 28gr. of 8208xbr and 31.2gr CFE223 in new Hornady brass with CCI 450 primers at 2.260 OAL. One thing I noticed was how consistent the OAL was while seating the bullets. Much better than the AMAX and Sierra Match bullets.

I had a little time so off to my desert shooting spot to group a few. I did not have time for a chronograph. I only shot 15 rounds consisting of 5 3-round groups. I was pleasantly surprised. First group with the CFE load, out of a clean bore, was .701". To make this brief only one group was over an inch at 1.3" My fault. Other groups were .596 to 1.0" Best group was with 8208xbr. Not bad for some loads just thrown together. All shot to the same point of aim. I figure with a little load development it will only get better. I like these bullets and wish I would have gotten another box of them.
