Having the Howa 1500 mini barrel threaded

I am waiting for the heavy barrel, whilst I wait I have been looking having the barrel threaded, initially for a compensator muzzle break (I know it doesn't need one), but when I get my stamp I want to unscrew the compensator and screw on the silencer.

    opinions?

    Thank you

Just keep in mind they are metric threads for when your smith rebarrels.

I'm on a similar path with mine. I want to go suppressed for the kids to learn on.

I would just go brake attack, not constantly pulling off muzzle devices.

TBAC Ultra with BA is what I'm looking at.

The reason I ordered the heavy barrel version is so that I can have it threaded 5/8 x 24 for a flash hider and later a suppressor.

I saw a Mini listed on GB that was originally a 22" barrel that was shortened to 16.5" and threaded. I didn't ask, but the length seems about right to have the minimum amount of barrel diameter to thread.

        Thanks, Dinny

1/2x20unf is what I done my sportier weight to
it would also be fine on your heavy barrel however you will lose a lot of thickness from your muzzle
so I would suggest 14x1 or 18x1 if your barrel is thick enough

The HB have a 3/4" muzzle diameter so the standard 5/8x24 will work. If I were to rebarrel I'd get a muzzle heavy like a running boar style of Tika CTRs

These are cold hammer-forged barrels by the way, so they cut differently on the machine.

I wonder if the lightweight barrel could be threaded. If you had to shorten it, would the length of the suppressor help in gaining back some fps?

I think the light weight just wouldn't have enough meat to do it. I believe Matt confirmed it also. My belief is only the HB Grendel can handle it.
