This was my first time shooting a coyote off of a dead animal, in this case, a 240 lb sow that I shot 3 nights prior. Two through and through shots put it down, the first shot being a tad high. The second coyote was called in from 600 yards or more. It took her a while to come in, but when she was finally close enough and stopped, she went down with a shot to the center of her chest that traveled into her body lengthwise and did not exit.

I have shot a few this way. As you say, they don't get up and run away. When the bullet is contained, there is exceptionally little skin damage. When the SST is not contained, however, it can make for some very long and nasty exit wounds.Kill a hog. Save the planet.
