Cavity Back Bullets Range Work and First Hogs

Accuracy and velocity information for the first loads of CBB ammo provided to me by CBB. The velocity was a bit low, but that will be upgraded in the future. Accuracy was terrific with the 118 gr. ammo (~0.5") and a bit below 1" @ 100 yards for the 105 gr.

You have seen the beaver result already. Here are two hog results. The first hog was lost, most due to shot place, I would guess. The second hog was DRT with a very destructive spine shot. I wanted a high shoulder shot in hopes of recovering the bullet and was a bit off. The bullet went through a lot of bone instead.

So, what are you gonna have to see out of these bullets in order for them to become your go to projectile.

For any bullet to be MY go-to projectile, it will have to be commercially loaded. I don't re/handload. That is sort of skirting your actual question, but it is a relevant aspect to my personal choices.

Let's see how the testing goes with them. I shot 4 more hogs last night, recovered 3.

I will say this. I would have no problem with using these bullets for my regular hunting. I am happy with their penetration capability despite their lower velocity loading After these three, I will hunt with the 118s again this weekend if I get a hog or two, then look into seeing what the 105s will do.
