The back lash is already picking up steam. Why these companies make deals with the devil is beyond me. S&W nearly went bankrupt after jumping into bed with prez clinton until a pro-gun ownership purchased the company and cleansed itself of all the dirty deals. Colt,Troy, Ruger also have tried and did make bargains with the devil in the past with much backlash. Magpul, DD, Glock, Barret and many other companies have stood by the Second Amendment gaining much loyalty. Cheaper than dirt is a company still hated after trying to gouge customers during the Sandy Hook unpleasantness.
These companies can do as they please but I think it is important for supporters of the Second Amendment to know which companies support Freedom and which companies don't.

Yesterday, Springfield Armory made a public post claiming they didn't know that their trade association (as one of the largest members), the IFMA, was making a deal with the Illinois legislature to exempt Springfield Armory from pending heavy handed anti-gun legislation.
This same legislation they were attempting to exempt themselves from also included restrictions on Illinois gun owners limiting them to 9 transactions per year. The IFMA, with the funding of Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms, changed their position from "opposed" to "neutral". This switch in their position allowed them to get the exemption deal thus clearing the way for two Senators previously opposed to the bill to switch and support it. With the support of these two Senators, the anti-gunners easily achieved the 30 votes necessary to pass the bill in the Senate.
Springfield Armory maintains they knew nothing about the IFMA's tactics of selling out Illinois gun owners to benefit Springfield Armory, Rock River Arms and even big box stores like Cabela's and Bass Pro from the new FFL licensing scheme that will most certainly put 1/3rd or more of Illinois FFL's out of business.
The other shoe dropped this morning on TTAG where their investigators unearthed campaign contributions by Springfield Armory to staunchly anti-gun politicians in Illinois. These donations would seem to be an effort to buy favoritism from these anti-gun legislators.
In my opinion, based on the reporting by TTAG and others, Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms are guilty of selling out Illinois gun owners for their own financial gain.

These are the type of kooks these companies think they will win by negotiating with. Their logic is from another world and not a very advanced one at that.

Bills like SB1657 are some of the worst legislation around. It undermines gun culture. SB1657 will destroy small business and create resentment towards the others that took advantage of the legislation. And passed by such a small margin too. What a shame. Is there a blacklist?
The companies that sell guns that did not appose this and stood to gain from it are culpable. That is protectionism. Its abuse of the state. Once again the candle-maker's petitioned the king to ban windows.Last edited by mateba; 05-04-2017, 11:33 AM.
