I want a Faxon Firearms ARAK-21, in the hotshot 6.5mm Grendel --- sooner, than later!

Back in the Spring of 2001, with Winchester having just introduced their .300 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM) cartridge, and with an American Spirit Arms .308 in hand, for evaluation, I walked into Accuracy Systems, Inc., and shared my plan for combining the two, with Owner-gunsmith Carl Emmite. Thank you, Carl, for the fond memory ---

Fast forward to the Spring of 2015: Faxon Firearms announced that they would be adding the new 6.5mm hotshot, the 6.5mm Grendel, to their ARAK-21 Platform, which features a very husky Bolt, and ambidextrous ejection, as well ---

However, a check of the Faxon Firearms website, today, (http://faxonfirearms.com/arak-xrs-rifles/) reveals no mention of the 6.5mm Grendel, under ARAK-21 XRS Complete Rifle, ARAK-21 Upper Receiver, or ARAK-21 Barrel Assembly Unit. What to do!

The good news: The 7.62x39mm cartridge, which shares the same case rim diameter as the 6.5mm Grendel cartridge, is listed as available. So, if I purchased an ARAK-21 Upper Receiver Assembly, chambered for the 7.62x39mm cartridge, from Faxon Firearms, who would you suggest I ship it to for a quick rebarrel to the 6.5mm Grendel cartridge?

Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

I would suspect that it is a proprietary barrel design.

You might...might be able to get Faxon to do a custom barrel from a blank when they do the next run of Group Buy barrels for us while they are set up to bore and chamber the 6.5.

Be prepared to pay dearly for it.

The ARAK-21 barrel is different from a typical AR style barrel, as mentioned you'd have to ask them to make you a custom barrel for it. This TFB article has some pretty good pictures of it.

Weren't they suppose to start making the ARAK compatible with ar15 barrels? Thought I remember reading that somewhere long ago. Course they could have just been talking about it.

The ARAK is a proprietary barrel system It is not compatible with COTS AR-15 barrels.

"We shoehorned a bigger cartridge into the gun. . . . Now, impose a Grendel geometry, and you are right at the tipping point." --- (http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showt...ll=1#post75339)

              RogueNathan,

              Thanks for joining-in the Discussion.

I think it's fair to state that the highly-anticipated "60k psi Bolt" for the 6.5mm Grendel cartridge ---

              has arrived ---

And, with dual ejectors, no less! In view of all the above, the question that begs to be asked is, When will Faxon Firearms stop teasing, and offer their updated version of the "Big Bolt" in an ARAK-21 Upper Receiver Assembly chambered for the can-do 6.5mm Grendel cartridge?

I see a Faxon Firearms ARAK-21 - 6.5mm Grendel combo, as a winning team. Let's make it happen!
