It is more fair to compare the best 5.56 sbr ammo to the Grendel.

Grendel still beats it in energy of course but the higher velocity and high bc of the TMK gives it the edge in trajectory.

      77gr TMK 12.5" barrel

      ...........Vel....Ener..Drop
      Muzzle 2550 1112 -2.5
      100... 2346 ...941 -0
      200... 2152 ...791 -3.8
      300... 1967 ...661 -15.2
      400... 1792 ...549 -35.6
      500... 1629 ...454 -66.8
      600... 1479 ...374 -111.2
      700... 1344 ...309 -171.6
      800... 1228 ...258 -251.2
      900... 1134 ...220 -353.9
      1000. 1062 ...193 -483.8

Under the topic, AR-15 extended-range pistol chambered for the 6.5mm Grendel, I early today sent the following email-request to the respective New Product Development teams at Hardened Arms and Radical Firearms:

I can attest to Hardened Arms quality even on their budget uppers. My 10.5" 5.56 upper is well put together.

Nick Young made me do it !

If the truth be known, I would have preferred the Desert Tech Micro Dynamic Rifle (MDR) chambered in the 6.5mm Grendel cartridge: A 7 pound package (initially stated), with an overall length of 26" (without muzzle brake). What's not to like! And, then there's the substantial MDR Bolt ---

Indeed, back in January, 2014, the Bullpup Forum Which Caliber Do You Want This In? Poll gave the 6.5mm Grendel a good showing ---

But, that all changed: The MDR is now 8-plus pounds, and no 6.5mm Grendel ! ---

Thus, my hunt for a 12.5"-barreled 6.5mm Grendel Pistol.

Did you keep you're order for the MDR or did you opt out?

                  Ditcher,

As stated above, my preference was for a 7-pound MDR, chambered in the 6.5mm Grendel cartridge. However, in that Desert Tech elected not to include the 6.5mm Grendel, among the list of chamberings in their MDR, I never placed an order for same. In short: A lightweight Desert Tech Micro Dynamic Rifle, with free-floating barrel, chambered for the 6.5mm Grendel cartridge would have been my first choice. Unfortunately, that never materialized.

I did, however, place my name on the Bullpup Forum list for the yet-to-be-developed MDR Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) version*, in 6.5mm Creedmoor (http://bullpupforum.com/index.php?to...92569#msg92569). In that a price has yet to be announced for that version, no monies have been placed on an order for same.

                  And, on related news: (http://bullpupforum.com/index.php?to...2592#msg122592)
